Why is my e mail longer associated with my account or my grandsons account...
0 -
@cynthia ann blanchard toadvine , post that question in the "FamilySearch Account" Category at:
https://community.familysearch.org/en/categories/familysearch-account
to get to be people that can help you. And you might want to explain your issue with a little more detail if possible.

@Anita Darice Taylor , here is a perfect place to make a suggestion to be able to move multiple images to archive if that is not possible now.
0 -
note: You CAN create an ALBUM - called "MY Archive" (or anything you wish )
and you CAN move as many items to that album in batches as you wish.
don't get bogged down in the quirks and limitation of the archive option.
just use ALBUMS

I forgot to mention that the options to remove or repalce info is not showing as active or available when selected. I chose the person I wanted to remove then it goes to another window and there the options are not accessible.

My family lineage has been stable on Family Search for many years. Recently I noticed that someone had changed the identity of my 6th great grandfather. We had family records of his identity years before we knew anything about Family Search. My question is how my lineage was changed and how can it be returned to what we had in our family history. Who do I contact? I actually was able to call a number and had someone return a call to discuss another change but that does not seem to be an option now. In my mind, the credibility of Family Search is being questioned. I do not understand how this can happen. Comments?

@WGarry, to start Family Tree is a shared tree and we all are responsible to help maintain it ourselves. You have the ability to make the necessary changes yourself. Family Tree is Open-Edit, which means anyone using the tree can make changes to it.
This Blog post area is not the best place to get help with specific issues. If you will post this type of question in the Family Tree Category at https://community.familysearch.org/en/categories/family-tree others will be able help you walk through the process.
Also it will be very helpful if you post the PID of the individual you are talking about. The PID is the person ID and looks something like XBC2-R5W
You are right, phone support has been discontinued. In addition to posting in the Family Tree category, you can schedule help by Google Meet at https://www.familysearch.org/en/fieldops/united-states-and-canada-contact-us or via email support at nasupport@familysearch.org
(Sorry @Garry for the miss-directed reply, I typed in the wrong user name)

remember -- in FamilySearch FamilyTree - there are no private family tree's.
There is no such thing as "my tree" versus "your tree"
It is ONE collaborative system - one single database that we all share.

Why do you continue to list my grandmother, Louise Bradshaw, as being married to Eddie Highsmith???? She was NEVER married. Highsmith is MY father's name, that is why when my mother, Dollie Bradshaw, MARRIED him, her last name became HIGHSMITH. For the love of God, get that straight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are referring to Family Tree -- you, yourself, should be able to make the correction.

James Henry Williams 1850-1887 buried at Berrien Co., GA has NO relationship to the Dr. David Morgan Williams (1813-1868) & Elizabeth Mann (1813 NC -aft 1870) family buried in Brooks Co., FL. The assumption is based on a series of errors. The youngest son of Dr. DM Williams was mislisted as “James” in the 1860 census record of Brooks Co., GA. Their youngest son is Edgar Dilmus Williams b. 1848 AL. See “U.S., Wills and Probate” for the 1868 Will of Dr. DM Williams. In that will every child of his both living & dead are mentioned by name. There is & never was a son named “James” in this Williams family. There is also NO DNA shared from the line of James Henry Williams with any one of hundreds of tested living descendants of the Dr. DM Williams family lines.
Another error made at Findagrave.com helped create this mistaken family connection. A memorial was created naming David MARTIN Williams (1812 GA-1897) & wife Elizabeth SULLIVAN (1813 NC-1894) buried in Elmore Co., AL as “Dr. David Morgan Williams & Elizabeth Mann”. This error has been proven wrong. Sad because it has already led to several hundred incorrect trees being posted at Ancestry.com & Familysearch. It has also prevented the true story of the family ancestry of James Henry Williams & Delilah Baker from being researched & verified.

@prettygarden, you really need to post this information as a Discussion on the appropriate PIDs in FamilySearch Family Tree. I don't see how any of this is relevant to a Blog on "Finding Help at FamilySearch—A Simplified Menu"

I have a person in my family tree who is not related. How can I remove this person? Thanks, Noelene.
0 -
@Noelene80, if you would post this question into the Family Search category at https://community.familysearch.org/en/categories/family-tree , you will find many people who can help you.
It would also help if you would post the PID there of the individual you believe is incorrectly attached. The PID is the person ID and looks like XXXX-XXX. If can be found on the person/detail page under their name. In this example it is LHDK-GFG.

I'm writing about John Washington Marshall, who appears in your records twice, with two different ID numbers, but the same birth date and the same parents.
One has the ID code of 2Z32-Q11, and it shows ordinances on his behalf performed in the 1930s.
The other is ID code LRJC-7PV. This shows the same ordinances performed in 2018 and 2019.
I have two slips to take to the temple to perform sealing to parents for both ID numbers.
How should this be cleared up?
0 -
@MDHamilton, To start LRJC-7PV has been deleted by merge by a JHegeman on 11May2019. So 2Z32-Q11 is the surviving profile and that is the card you would use.
Now looking at that profile under the Ordinances tab it shows that a sealing was done 15June1923 St George Temple but the parents are not shown. It is possible that the Sealing to Parent has already been done. The only way to know is to request the names of the parents for that 1923 sealing from FamilySearch.
To do that go to the Temple Category at https://community.familysearch.org/en/categories/temple
Give them the 2Z32-Q11 number, tell them how you are related and request to know who those parents were in the 1923 sealing. If they were the same parents then that ordinance does not need to be done again and FS should be able to cancel that SP reservation you have. If the parents were not George Marshall and Nancy Ann Roszell go ahead and do the SP on the 2Z32-Q11 card.
Be sure you post these types of question in the Temple category from now on.

I have people who I've complained about before for removing documents they did not like in the document section. I started my tree years before they had ever heard about Family Search. I don't mind at all if they correct a mistake, but to remove documents. That is not their right. This is a community effort. This family is as much mine as theirs. They have been vindictive from the get go, and I complained before. It was my understanding that Family Search had told them to stop, but they are at it again. I'm older, and I want the documents up. It helps me to see what is going on without having to go through the sources to bring them up and revisit the information. The document section as well as photos and stories are for all of us. Can't you stop these people? It starts with Rufus Phillips' family LXFY-4XJ. I know I'm just a pea in the pod, but I have worked forever to find the documents and to link them to the correct people. I'm not perfect. Not that it affects what I'm doing here, but they have even gone so far as to ask contributors on Find-a-Grave not to allow me to use their photos when I have asked. They tell me to get someone local to take the photo for me, that I'm not allowed to use theirs. That is ok, because I have other relatives who will allow me and I always give them credit. Let me put up a photo these people don't think I have permission for and you will be all over me to restrict it. I just want them to recognize that they do not have the rights to just remove something because they don't like it. If it serves a purpose of helping to document the people, then leave it alone. I've seen articles written by experts on family search that say fill the pages with the documents. It makes it easier to see in a blink.
So let me know what I should do. I'm really trying to be nice to them, and I know I have to love them, but it makes no sense for them to do what they do. I've have at least one other person contact me about them. I was amazed to see I'm not their only target.

@Linda Lenhard, I don't know if this would help or not, but you could take all the documents you say are an issue and put them in a separate Album, kind of out of sight until you click on it.

Article 1170 How do I add memories to an album?

In the future you will get better and more complete responses if you post your questions/comments about Memories in the Memories Category at: https://community.familysearch.org/en/categories/memories

I am unable to print the How am I related to a person in my chart. On my PC it always says I am not related...even to my parents. On my lap top I can actually see the chart with spouses listed, but can not get it to print. How do I get a print out of the chart.
I started with Benjamin Lincoln Terry LC8W X5Z and loop around to Harrry Pratt Wareham LKTH 26W/ what is the trick in getting it to print out. this goes from year 1868 to 1902 with a switch in direction in 1488.

what does "dit" or "dite" mean, when listed between two surnames?
Ann Kerr_1
0 -
@Ann Kerr_1. I have no idea what context you see Dit, but a couple of thoughts dit is often used as a short version of ditto. Also sometimes it means an alternate name (see 2nd link). You may want to post this question in the Indexing Category If you are referring to an Indexing project. (1st Link below)
