Adding a person to help

Currently, you can go to two different spots to add a person to help. The first is the "LifeSaver" icon where you can add people in two ways: By User Name and Helper Number or Date of Birth and Helper Number.

The second is to go to the Question Mark icon, click on it, then click on Helper Resources where you are given the options to add from Ward or Stake, add by Email or Copy Link.

It might be a good idea to just have all those options on the "Life Saver" and on "Helper Resources" rather than putting some of those various options in different places.

FYI: on the FamilySearch public account side Helper Resources show two options (understandable because reference to Ward/Stake would probably confuse):

    Find a Family History Center

FamilySearch has nearly 5,000 Family History Centers worldwide where volunteers offer 1-on-1 assistance.

The name of the nearest center will automatically load if you enable location services in your browser.

    Research Consultations

Sign up for a free, 20-minute online research consultation with a friendly research guide. Our volunteers come from all over the world and are dedicated to help people make successful discoveries.

There also is no 'Life Saver' icon either - for the same reasons.

👍️ I can support consolidating resources for Wards/Stakes through both access routes (that makes sense). However, if one selects the:

'Try the Planner' link - that takes one directly to those options - so maybe for ease of development they should be kept 'as is'.

The 'Life Saver' Helper number option indicates you are helping someone who is right there with you (you have access to that information through their request that you help). The Planner option is used when someone in the Ward/Stake grants you access for an extended period of time.

    @Bruce McLeod

    Bruce

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]

    just in passing ...

    Great suggested enhancement ...

    But ...

    That Said ...

Please be. aware; and, advised ...

    Firstly ...

    That BOTH,

    (1) the "Help Others"; and,

    (2) the "(Consultant) Planner" (under "Helper Resources")

are ONLY available to Users/Patrons who ARE Members of the Church.

    And ...

    SERVE two (x2) DIFFERENT purposes..

The "Help Others" feature/function, is to help/assist OTHER Users/Patrons, on an, 'ad hoc', 'one off', basis.

Whereas, the "(Consultant) Planner" (under "Helper Resources") feature/function, it to help/assist OTHER Users/Patrons on a MORE "Permanent" basis.

    Secondly ...

We used to have, the (EXCELLENT) ability/"Option", to ADD a User/Patron, to OUR "(Consultant) Planner" (under "Helper Resources"), via/through, the likes of , User Name; and, Helper Number; or, Date of Birth, and, Helper Number.

'FamilySearch' (ie. the Church), in its wisdom, "Recently" REMOVED, the ability/"Option", to ADD a User/Patron, to OUR "(Consultant) Planner" (under "Helper Resources"), via/through, the likes of, User Name; and, Helper Number; or, Date of Birth, and, Helper Number; as, some believed/considered, that such was a Possible "Privacy" problem/issue [and, in some cases, COULD be (and/or, WAS being) misused].

    Unfortunately ...

We can NO LONGER "Add", a User/Patron, to OUR "(Consultant) Planner" (under "Helper Resources"), via/through, the likes of, User Name; and, Helper Number; or, Date of Birth, and, Helper Number.

    Such is SORLEY missed ...

As, we NOW have to send an "E-mail" INVITE; which, in many cases, is unnecessary; and, wastes time (especially, for IMMEDIATE Family and Friends); and, makes it DIFFICULT, for some Users/Patrons (especially, those who are NOT "Computer" savvy).

I know; as, I have experienced such, with some, that I help/assist.

    And ...

It has been suggested, to me, that we should NOT 'Question', the decisions. of our "Leaders" ...

    So ...

    That Said ...

    Again ...

    Great suggested enhancement ...

    But ...

    Unfortunately ...

I DO NOT think, that the ability/"Option", to ADD a User/Patron, to OUR "(Consultant) Planner" (under "Helper Resources"), via/through, the likes of, User Name; and, Helper Number; or, Date of Birth, and, Helper Number, will be REINSTATED.

I know, that this certainly does not help/assist; but, I hope, that this may provide you with, some additional, insight; and, perspective.
