This is the article @Jim Kilby
Kilby
The Norman Transcript. (Norman, Okla.), Vol. 15, No. 31, Ed. 1 Thursday, June 9, 1904
I also found a record with yours and your mother’s names on it. I will send that to you privately
ok it’s not letting me post photos again.. I’ve gotten the “going through moderation message about 12x now. I’ll try to post them later if I get a chance

only the person mentioned on the record or next of kin. The person would have to travel to Oklahoma City to fill out the request form and pay whatever fees. Then it gets sent to the judge who reviews the information and makes the decisions. I’ve had many discussions with Oklahoma adoptees searching for their or their relatives adoption info and many have spent lots of money and lots of time traveling to and from etc. only to be denied. The outcome seems to be the same if you hire an Attny. I haven’t met anyone yet that has been successful.

This is the record you got from the historical society?

Why does that one page have no other info? Did you try calling the Oklahoman children’s society?

Please, make sure that you click EXPAND POST, so you can see ALL of this answer. Some records are available online. You can use the FamilySearch Catalog to look for records.
https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog-search/
Then, you can narrow your search and find the Probate Records:
Continue narrowing down your search by clicking on Probate records:
You aren't through sorting the records yet, click again and then narrow down your records by the county:
This is the index to records. You can click through to search this index.
I also searched the page for other Logan County records found in the Probate collections.
Now, compare the dates and see if these records are of interest.
When you find a collection of records that are of interest, you will want to sift through them to find the records that you want. The film collection might have Montana, Florida, New York and Oklahoma. If you look at the images, you can see breaks in the records. You can click on these pages to scan to see if you have found a section that is of interest. When you find the records for the area of interest, I try to look at the beginning and the end to see if the record set has an index. If I don't find an index, I try to determine if the records are in order by name or date. If you can figure out how the records are grouped, you can search for the correct name or time period within the record.
I realize this sounds like a lot of steps, but once you try searching this way, you will understand and be able to navigate the records.
If the records that you seek are not in the collection, you can contact the County. If you know the file number, I would just ask how much it will cost for photocopies. I hope that you will either find the record that you seek in these records, or that you will be able to order photocopies of the file number found in the index.
Let me know if you need further clarification.

@Jim Kilby this link will take you to a web page of links related to the Oklahoma Children’s Home Society some names are mentioned but it only goes to 1905. You were previously searching for info about the home. This tells you about the founders and the rules etc

The newspaper article was a nice find! The link works. Newspaper articles can contain a lot of information. The newspapers could print stuff that we find to be too invasive now. @Jim Kilby you might continue searching in the area newspapers. You might be surprised at what you find.
Thanks @X24mom X24mom for sending a private message with the information about living people.

anytime I search the words orphan ,adoption and oklahoma, I always get an article from this newspaper in the results. I’ve read a couple of them but with this one I noticed an address at the bottom of the article where they encourage those with similar stories/people searching for birth family info to write in to the paper. It wouldn’t hurt to send your story

I just sent an email to the contact.

I sent an email to Curt Macias but it bounced.

@Jim Kilby do you know how to upload your dna to other sites like familytreedna? And also do you know how to search and sort the results? Ancestry lets you search by surname and/or birth location ... ftdna has several nice sort features ... do you know about those options and features and how to use them? Or do you have anyone assigned as manager to help you with it?

Yes @Jim Kilby the ones we have been posting are all on fs And ancestry. 🤷🏻♀️I dont know🤷🏻♀️ about other sites , and some stuff you can see on OCSN Oklahoma Court Network. As far as the records that aren’t on fs or ancestry, 🤷🏻♀️i dont know🤷🏻♀️ if they’re online or if they were 🤷🏻♀️i dont know🤷🏻♀️ how or where to find them. I wish they were. Unfortunately you and I are looking for for OKlahoma adoptees from the same time period and locations almost lol

Jim... do you know which counties you’d like to search? I’m happy to help. I just kinda need to know what you’re thinking 🤔. I searched all of the Logan County Index today. (That’s why I haven’t been here much today lol) and news articles ... no luck so far. No Kilby at all in Logan County indexes. Tomorrow I’ll start going through the records

I contacted the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. I spoke to a lady who told me she will search the archive.

The home was located in Guthrie (Logan County), Lois was born in Pottawatomie County.

Carolyn, X24:
I'm not a paying member of either Ancestry.com or MyHeritage.com. However, which do you recommend joining as a paid subscriber?
0 -
Jim,
You can do a lot of free searches at familysearch.org
My personal choice is often Ancestry, however, I have found records at MyHeritage that I could not find elsewhere. I am spoiled though. I use all of them.
You can often get a trial subscription to see whether you like using their databases. Sometimes, there are also special prices in effect for new subscribers.

WOW....this is John Rigler. Jim Kilby's new found Nephew. My mom was Josephine Kilby (Then adopted into Handy, then married Glenn Oliver Rigler, then when he deserted us, She married Doug Von Allmen) These searches are amazing and I am watching the statements....and X24Mom you are funny. I have found a brother last November that I never I knew I had. I found my Uncle Jim Kilby about the same time. I went from "My Family is gone" to " I have blood"
I appreciate all you are doing

@John JohnRigler1 How did you find your brother? Was this through DNA research? We would love to hear your story!
We are glad to have you as a member of this group. This has been fun to research. X24mom is fantastic!

One replied, the name didn’t ring a bell. The other didn’t respond.

The code "1995" corresponds with what they told me. They said the records were donated in 1995.
0 -
That makes sense. I suspected that this might be the case when the year matched the code. It might be worth checking other archives to see if the records might have been saved there. You might try the Oklahoma Wiki: https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Oklahoma_Archives_and_Libraries
Sometimes, the records that we seek aren't in the place that we expect. I really hope you can find out what happened to Lois.

Although the Adoption Decree mentions the Juvenile Court of Pottawatomie County and has the case number 2911 on the top of the document, the above says "Oklahoma County Probate Record." So, does that mean the adoption was probated in Oklahoma County?
0 -
I just spoke to the Oklahoma County Court Clerk's office. They will do a probate search for Lois. Although they said adoptions are sealed they will search anyway. However, I need to mail in my request.
0 -
I hope that they can find a probate record for Lois! Please let us know if you discover any new information.
0 -
I would definitely check both counties for records. Perhaps, Lois was living in a different county before the adoption?
I checked the dates that Oklahoma County Pottawatomie County were established and they were both started in 1891, so I don't think that one county was divided out of the other.

I just spoke to the County Clerk's office in Pottawatomie County. I spoke to a lady who is going to search the records for me. Since the Decree of Adoption mentions the Juvenile Court, I asked if she would search the Juvenile Court records. Anyway, she said she would try.
