Dead to living request not working.

JT said: No, this process really does take days to resolve, because it causes a case to be opened which then has to wait for FamilySearch support missionaries to look into and handle.
Go see your cases under "Help" -> "My Cases" and you should see when this particular case got initiated, and when it gets closed.0 -
Chas Howell said: Just a side note while you are waiting. I think the "deceased" entry was put in by a WilliamGlass1. Has he responded with why he entered her as deceased?
Oh forget that, that was for a Shirley Ann Doonan not Shirley Maye Doonan. Wrong person entirely.
But the same question has the person who put in deceased responded with a reason he believe her deceased?0 -
David Wynn said: Oh I don't mind about that. I've done this a few times in the past, and I really don't mind for the *review* process to take a couple days. But the *submission* process should not. And that's the issue here. Typically I hit the submit button and it registers my request with the proper authorities. Today, it will not come back from the submit process, so I don't even know if my request was properly registered.0

David Wynn said: Nope. I just checked. I have no open cases -- it did not submit my request. Ugh.0

David Wynn said: FWIW, the profile ID is LTS6-37W. I'll try on another computer / another network to see if maybe its just something in the network.0

Tyler Graf said: Sorry about this error. Should be fixed now.0

Tyler Graf said: FYI. The error only happened if the person had no death date or no death place.0

David Wynn said: I find that hilarious. I couldn't request to switch them back to living, because I hadn't specified a date and place of death. (Because they haven't died)
Thanks for fixing this.0 -
Tom Huber said: There were several other issues with this (not being able to switch either living to decease or vice versa) reported recently.
Have all of those been resolved? Thanks.0 -

FYI
I do not know about whether or not the matter in this particular post has been resolved.
But ...
I missed this post of 4 Months ago when I raised the following post on mine some 20 days ago.
Enhancement Request: Please increase number of available CHARACTERS in "Request to Mark Person as Living" from 260 (±5) to, at least, 1500.
https://getsatisfaction.com/familysea...
I gather that post on mine might be related to this post.

Tom Huber said: Thanks, Brett. I'm going to add your request to that particular issue as an unresolved related issue.0

David Wynn said: Yes, as noted both by Tyler and myself above, the issue raised by this thread is fixed. You have however just illustrated that this forum does not function well as a way of reporting bugs as there is no way to mark a discussion as "Closed", "Completed", or "Solved", thus halting any further discussion.0

However, to change a person from Deceased to Living, those two fields would HAVE to be checked by software to confirm that they were empty, otherwise there would be a conflict of interest. A very common error in software programming is to accidentally program a check like that backwards.
What makes me curious is how a flawed check so basic to the function being supported (i.e., changing a Deceased to Living) managed to get into the production system.0 -

Tom Huber said: Brett, your request for more space is still in the list as unresolved. Only this issue is considered resolved.0

This is still an issue and has not been fixed at this moment.
No request to change Death status can even be submitted.
I have tried multiple ways to submit a change, but hitting the submit button only reloads the exact same page with the same submit and cancel buttons.
I have worked in IT/IS for decades, so feel free to look me up on LinkedIN and don't tell me this is user error.
FamilySearch says they are concerned with privacy but mark people deceased with no supporting documents besides putting in the word AGE as a reason. Tell me what is worse, listing a dead person as alive or listing a live person as dead?
My mother, LYQL-2Z9 is not dead, so your idea of respecting the privacy of the living not true.
and neither is her sister, LYQL-YPJ.
Now if it is a regression error, ok, if not this is simply the worst web application ever made. Sorry for your failure.

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
FYI
The ORGININAL problem/issue, that was raised back around 2018, was addressed/fixed, a long time ago.
The CURRENT problem/issue is NEW.
Please be aware, that the CURRENT (ie. RECENT) problem/issue, has ALREADY been, raised; and, appears to have been forwarded for investigation.
Although, the recent, previous, posts on the CURRENT (ie. RECENT) problem/issue, were NOT raised in this "Ideas" ('Feedback') Section, luckily, the CURRENT (ie. RECENT) problem/issue has been forwarded for investigation.
Here are the recent, previous, posts:
"Q and A" Section
'Category' = "Family Tree"
Home > Help Center Categories > Family Tree
[ 1 ]
Dated: 26 August 2021
Bug: Unable to submit request to change Deceased to Living
[ 2 ]
Dated: 30 August 2021
Why does the Submit button not work when I try to change a record from deceased to living?
.
Where, the latter has the following 'Comment' by a "Moderator" [ ie. 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Personnel) ]:
https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/comment/372421/#Comment_372421
I hope this helps, somewhat.

You need individual assistance from someone who has special permissions to edit Family Tree on behalf of FamilySearch. I used the Flag:Report feature to report your comment above, and recommend escalation. That should get you the help you need soonest.

As an aside ...
It is not even clear, whether or not, selecting that "Save", on "Changing" the 'status' from "Dead", to "Living", triggers a "Report" (eg. 'Message'; or, some form of response) to 'FamilySearch' "Support".
Previously, when the 'FamilySearch' "Support" Case Management System was operational (up until a Month or so ago), when one selected that "Save", on "Changing" the 'status' from "Dead", to "Living", such triggered the creation of a 'FamilySearch' "Support" Case. Where, 'FamilySearch' "Support" investigated; and, took the appropriate action. As, that 'FamilySearch' "Support" Case Management System is now DEFUNCT, the latter is NO LONGER the situation.
And ...
'Yes' ...
As suggested, at present; as, an interim measure, one can submit a 'Question', through the "Q and A" Section, under the 'Category' of (say) "Family Tree", in this Forum, requesting that the 'Status' of a particular individual/person be "Changed", from "Dead", to "Living"; and, hopefully, a "Moderator" [ ie. 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Personnel) ], will TAKE the 'Question' (ie. post) into the Workings of 'FamilySearch' "Support", to investigate the matter; and, take the appropriate action.
