Escalated posts and Vanishing posts. Thumbs down and needs to be changed..
Recently I could not locate a post and wrote another post I thought I had posted a topic relating to Affiliate Libraries, but it seems to have vanished. where I was advised
"If it was moved to an appropriate category for that type of question, the helper doing so usually leaves "MOVED" link."
Believing the original post was lost in cyber space I wrote another post which has now been moved.
Moved: Action required by FS to update a further Blog and articles re Affiliate Libraries.
Image my surprise to subsequently to receive a personal message (FS system) (Just recently 5.15 pm my time 1 July 2021 AESTor UCT +10) about my ORIGINAL message saying it had been escalated. The link quoted was https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/87741/another-blog-and-articles-need-to-be-updated-for-new-email-contact-for-affiliates-libraries 27 June 2021.
What I think of a system that works in this way by completely deleting all trace of a post is better left unsaid. I think it is ESSENTIAL NOT OPTIONAL, that there is an indication that the post has been moved.
In addition I think the text prior to escalation should be retained and I refer to Brett's post Ridiculous, just WRONG. Idea; where, I have, interacted; &, Accepted Answer, NOW, Permission Problem which appears to have occurred after a post was escalated.
If I post on a Forum such as this I have an expectation that I WILL BE ABLE TO ACCESS COMMENTS I HAVE MADE, WHETHER ON MY OWN POSTS OR POSTS BY OTHER PEOPLE.

I would like to cross reference a post by gas models. on another topic that is relevant. https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/comment/263980/#Comment_263980
"There is an issue with the design of the forum that can cause the issue that you see. When a post is moved the default is not to leave any "breadcrumbs" as to where the post went. To leave a trace the person moving has to check a box. Frequently we see individuals moving a post forget to mark the box so the post effectively disappears. In my opinion the default should be the other way around. The moved label is left unless there is some specific reason for hiding (which should be very infrequently). Just my opinion - hopefully a person with power will see and make changes"
FamilySearch please FIX this problem which in my view is a serious design fault.
I believe that the original topic, with all its content both from the original person posting, and any subsequent comments SHOULD BE LEFT IN PLACE. There should be a comment added such as "This topic has been referred to Support for action". Then a COPY should be forwarded to Support for action, leaving the original in place.
This would solve the problem of both a topic being moved without trace, and also the problem of person's comments disappearing, as mentioned by Brett in his post linked above.
