New problems with URLs in Community posts or comments

Using URLs or links in posts or comments here in the Community has long been a problem. If the poster is not careful, the link is mangled by the software into an unusable mess.

Lately, I've run into new versions of URL problems.

In several posts, the URLs would not become usable links. No matter what tricks I tried, the URL remained plain text.

Starting yesterday, a new issue arose. The URL became a working link, but I also received an error message. Several times, the message was on top of the "FamilySearch Terms of Use" footer, but once I was able to capture a clear copy of the message:

Are some changes perhaps happening behind the scenes causing new errors? Robots.txt strikes fear in my heart! 😉

Thank you.

@Áine Ní Donnghaile Can you give me more details about this issue? I'm having trouble recreating it. Which category were you posting in? Or is it across the board? What were you trying to link to? Was it a FamilySearch website link or from another place?

At least one of the robots.txt errors messages showed when I tried to post in the DQS group. I'm not sure about the others.

    I haven't seen it today.

@Ashlee C. I have just encountered the robots.txt error message while pasting the link to a FSFT profile in this message.

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/170926/finding-the-place-of-death

Windows 10 and Chrome, both fully updated.

    @Ashlee C. For Monday

I've just encountered the "robots.txt" message again, twice in a single response on this thread in General Questions:

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/171396/validating-family-search-addition

Windows 10 and Chrome, both fully updated.

Thank you @Áine Ní Donnghaile for continuing to report examples of this.

So that I can have a better understanding of the problem, is this issue happening to anyone else?

I saw other threads where someone mentioned "robots.txt" interfering with URLs -

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/145644/christening-before-birth
    https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/129591/404-record-not-found-for-hazel-lillian-winchell-bailey

And when I pasted the first URL in this comment, I got a different error in the corner:

@Ashlee C. I just had the robots.txt error again when I replied to this thread

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/171967/henry-ashley-goodrich-lzj5-5ws

This time, I made sure to use Firefox instead of Chrome to verify if the issue might be browser-dependent.

    Thanks.
