How do I turn off notifications about "discoveries"?
How do I turn off all notifications about "discoveries"? I have the text and email notifications off, but still, discoveries clog my notifications area. The notifications about how the system has "found" a hint or a temple ordinance for me are particularly annoying: these are ALWAYS already attached/reserved by the time that I look at them, and are a distraction from the area of research that I'm focusing on. It appears that the same hint or ordinance is sent out to a whole bunch of people, so most people I have spoken to are disappointed when they click on these links. I understand that you're trying to encourage people to come and see what's going on, but if the opportunity is ALWAYS gone before the link gets noticed and clicked, then it's going to have exactly the opposite effect: it will reduce engagement to be consistently disappointed like that. Additionally, they clog the notification area, so that when notifications that actually matter it's hard to tell. And you can't get rid of them without actually opening them. If you cannot turn them off, please fix it so they can be. I wish that the Discoveries were moved to the Activities tab, and that all notifications about them were optional. Right now, you cannot turn them off.
Thanks

There appear to be a number of areas in FamilySearch whereby such suggestions cannot be dismissed or hidden. Also, if one doesn't want to receive a specific type of notification the only choice appears to be to opt out of receiving any. Perhaps having greater control over what we want to see, or be advised of, is an issue FamilySearch should give some thought to.

Currently, you cannot turn off the notifications on FamilySearch, only the emails that are sent from them. I will submit your experience with not being able to do anything with the notices due to other family beating you to the work. Hopefully, the team that creates these experiences will be able to find ways to make these notifications useful to all users, not just the first ones to access them!
