No General Announcement: New policy on Community account logout threshold?
Recently FamilySearch Community implemented a new policy - a logout threshold/timing mechanism - which can interrupt ones post. I have experienced loss of post material due to this new threshold (which isn't new ... hmmm..)
Why is there no general announcement of this new policy? What is the policy and why is it being implemented? Are all accounts throttled equally?
We are FamilySearch Community and should be notified as to reasons for change in policy/features? We can guess as to changes - but wouldn't it be nice for notification?
Thanks for looking into this FamilySearch.

We were told to look under the Community News category for such notifications, but no notice is to be found there about the current difficulties. This is inevitably leading to speculation over whether this a problem the engineers are working to put right, or whether users being quickly timed-out is a new, intended "behaviour" - albeit, surely not after as little as two minutes!
I know moderators have made comments on this issue, but their comments have either not been made clearly enough, or placed prominently enough on this forum.

@Paul W I don't know if the engineers are working to put it right ... or put it. I think the latter - though with no announcement - yes speculation. I think it's just part of the general tone of the recent changes/tightened security times we are living in... otherwise ... continue speculation ...

Community News link has no announcement of this change.

I'm pretty sure there's no announcement because it isn't a new policy. It is not a deliberate change. I'm basing this on the way moderators combined topics in Paul's thread (originally about Community, now including various threads about the Captcha/not-a-robot problem on the main site).

@Julia Szent-Györgyi In Community we used to login once and the cookie would not expire for ... I don't know ... 3 months? Now it's two minutes (exaggeration to make the point I guess...) and you think that's not a policy/deliberate change?? with no announcement? ... Maybe it's just for the holiday season ... an impedance measure. Well .. I guess I should log off ...

This is not a new policy. On the contrary, our security provider made some changes that has caused us some major headaches. I have been told that the engineers are working on the excessive logging out and hoops to jump through when logging in as well as the Error 15 dilemma.
