"Access denied" "Error 15"?
For the past two weeks I haven't been able to log into the main page. I keep getting an error saying "Access denied Error 15"..... "This request was blocked by the security rules". Fore some strange reason I can still login here but I can't access my tree or search. The normal net nannyware that my office runs is managed by Menlo but this one shows up as coming from Imperva. And I still have access to time wasters like Facebook, YouTube, EBay, etc. So I'm wondering if it's something set up on FamilySearch's end because of my IP (we operate off of thin clients.... yeesh)? Or is it possible that the certificate for the site is out of date? I've cleared certs, cookies, attempted logging in from different positions. Nothing works.

all appears to be working now

@MichaelPark76 Not sure if the rules are from FamilySearch ... if you search that exact error you will get some results for possible solutions. Hopefully like rothesian said - 'it's working now.?'

After closing my browser, deleting temp files and running a scan, I was able to re-open FamilySearch successfully and continue working. Thanks for the prompt response to my question.

I'm getting the same error. It started last night while I was logged in doing research and linking records. The error indicates a firewall policy is blocking access. I've cleared cache, cookies, and history, but I'm still not able to get to the login page.

I also am unable to log onto FamilySearch.org. I get the Error 15. Please let me know what I should do to access my records.
Thank you for your help.

A google search for "access denied error 15" gives
Check Your Security Interference. Sometimes the third-party antivirus software and even Windows Firewall can block your browser from accessing some websites. In this case, you can try add the website to the whitelist of your antivirus software or disable it temporarily.
End quote
In addition to the suggestion above try the following (I know some of you have tried some of these solutions already):
- Try again - there may have been a temporary glitch.
- Have you turned your computer off since last trying? If not then reboot.
- Try using a different browser
- Check that your browser is up-to-date (eg. for Chrome, click on the three vertical dots on the far right, click help, click About Google Chrome)
- Clear FamilySearch cookies - go to https://www.familysearch.org/cookies
- If all of the above do not work, try clearing all of your temporary files and cookies in your browser (for Chrome this is the 3 dots again, Settings, Security & Privacy, Clear browsing data).

I started getting this error last night while I was logged in searching for records. The error indicates a firewall block by Imperva. I've cleared cache, cookies, and history, and used a different browser. Still no joy. I can't even get to the login page to open a trouble ticket.

Moderator note - three threads were merged into one which created a few duplicate comments by some guests. The oldest comment was left in the discussion and the duplicates were removed.
Having one thread will help when we have been able to find a fix for this issue. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

I am getting the exact same message as people noted above. I see a response from a moderator - is the error coming from the familysearch site, or is it something that we can fix on our own? Is it actively being worked on? Will we be notified when resolved? Inquiring minds want to know.
This is what I am seeing:

I have been told that engineers have been made aware of this. I am a genealogist, not a techie, so I have no idea if this is on FamilySearch's side or elsewhere. I wish I could give you a better answer @ErnstSeider. When I hear something, I will let y'all know.

All working well till this morning. Now I get an error code 15 This request was blocked by Security Rules. I'm not even able to get through to support to tell them my problem. I have tried all the clearing of history, cache, restarting computer and running a scan. Nothing has helped. Any ideas?

Can you tell me why I keep getting this message intermittently? I will be adding information and all the sudden I get this message. If I keep refreshing it eventually lets me into FamilySearch but then after a bit I get the message again.
I tried switching browsers, didn't change anything. Tried logging in on my phone using safari instead of my computer, same message. Waited a bit and I could get in for a little while and then the error message is back again
Thank you
Melissa

Same here. cleared cookies etc, now can't access main search page?

The very same thing just happened to me! It won't even let me log in. I tried a search without logging in, for info I know is there, but all I got was a generic result of a differently spelled name with sepia photo, very "Ancestry" style and totally irrelevant. Please fix this!

Same problem all morning and continuing into the afternoon on 10 Dec 2022. None of the fixes have worked thus far.

I guess I won't be sharing with family over the holidays! Family Search has been getting the error for awhile, and I don't see it becoming available anytime soon. I guess they just want everyone to post their IP addresses here for hackers to locate them.

I can not get on family search anymore it say security blocked it will not let me call or contect or re sign in .it says impervia on bottom

I was able to get back into FamilySearch within the last 30 minutes as of about 3:15 pm on Saturday, 10 Dec 2022. I tried the different suggested fixes I found online this morning and none of them worked. I called my computer specialist and he said to wait as it sounded like the problem was on FamilySearch's end.

Still getting the Error 15 thing. I've tried all that I know to do. I noticed the system was acting up for the last week or so. Very frustrating. Need more help.
Even when I could get in, the FamilySearch.org system would not allow me to find records. Something horrible is going on.
Someone needs to fix the issue of Error 15. Users are being blocked.

I had this problem. I have Norton Antivirus installed, I ran scans, undated the program and I turned on "Secure VPN" which was turned off. After that, the problem with FamilySearch went away. I'm not very computer literate but maybe this will help someone.
