Relationship filter to help with sharing

I love the new group feature to share reserved names with family members. I have reserved my share of names prior to fully understanding how long it can take to get the work done. I really want to share my reserved names with family members that also have said reserved people as ancestors. For example, I can go through each person and view relationship then share them individually. However, I would love to be able to filter reserved people as in all ancestors on husbands paternal line, maternal line, etc. and share them with the correct group. I hope this makes sense...

    @tswagghart

    FYI

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]

    Just in passing ...

I understand, your desire; and, suggested enhancement ...

    But ...

    That Said ...

    Unfortunately ...

With ALL, the priorities, in the "Family Tree" Part (and, also, the OTHER Parts), of 'FamilySearch'; and, with the very limited "Resources" (eg, "Funds") available to 'FamilySearch', I honestly do not think, that your suggested enhancement, would rank very high, on the list of priorities.

    But ...

    Do not disappear ...

Not so much; or, exactly, a Relationship "Filter", for the purpose that you want ...

And, certainly, some work/effort involved, on one's part ...

There is another option available; but, NOT, in 'FamilySearch' ...

IF, you have not already utilised such; THEN, I humbly suggest that you try ...

(BYU) RelativeFinder, which is one of a number of the, Third Party Applications, that are Certified to work with Family Tree of 'FamilySearch'.

BYU = Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah, USA (ie. the Church University).

Specifically, from the Family History Technology Laboratory, of the Computer Science Department.

Provide, one's "Ancestral" Lines, in Family Tree of 'FamilySearch', are somewhat extensive ...

Then, using (BYU) RelativeFinder, one should be able to 'see' one's "Relationship" NOT only with, "Famous People"; and, many, "Others"; but, ALSO between, (1) one's self and a "Deceased" individual/person (if, there is one of course); and/or (2) two (x2) "Deceased" individuals/person (if, there is one of course); and/or, (3) one's self and a another "Living" User/Patron (if, there is one of course).

PLUS, one can ALSO "Print" the connections/links between them.

And, it is simple, just a matter of "Signing In", with the "Credentials" of one's 'FamilySearch' Account; accepting the "Conditions"; and, the "Connection" between, "FamilySearch' and (BYU) RelativeFinder; which, then becomes a "Partner" Account, that is "Connect" to 'FamilySearch'.

(BYU) RelativeFinder digs (pun intended) a lot DEEPER in Family Tree of 'FamilySearch', than 'FamilySearch' does.

Here is direct link to (BYU) RelativeFinder:

(BYU) RelativeFinder has MANY 'Bells and Whistles', that you might find useful.

Apart from "Famous People" and "Others" ...

(BYU) RelativeFinder has some interesting options ...

There is an option to see if there is a 'Connection' between yourself and a "Deceased" individual/person in Family Tree of 'FamilySearch'.

There is an option to see if there is a 'Connection' between two (x2) "Deceased" individuals/person in Family Tree of 'FamilySearch'.

There is an option to see if there is a 'Connection' between ("Living" - Users/Patrons) Friends in Family Tree of 'FamilySearch'.

    And ...

    Masquerade

Explore relatives of a deceased person as if you were them by inputting their FamilySearch.org PID.

    Magic.

    Just explore.

    Enjoy.

    Good Luck.

I hope. that this may also help/assist.

    Brett

ps: Caveat - Please be aware, that NOT "All" Users/Patrons, may have success; but, hopefully, many will.

A totally agree that we need a relationship filter in our temple lists (my reservations, family groups and shared with temple). I am also trying to share family names with different sides of the family. Right now, I have to open each name on my reservations or shared with temple to determine which line the name is connected to so that I can then share it with the correct family group.

A filter that allows one to filter the list to one of the grandparents (and spouses grandparents) would be SOOOOO helpful!!! PLEASE consider this feature as it will leverage our use of family groups exponentially (and thereby reduce number of names shared with temple!).
