The bell icon does not respond unless there is a red dot. Am I doing something wrong?

Today there was a red dot by the bell icon on familysearch.org. I clicked it and saw "Changes to people you are following." I checked the first person on the list of four, and then I could not bring up the list again to view the others. Is this a general problem?

I tried resetting the cookies. I was prompted me to sign in again. I then found that I could get the Changes list by clicking on the bell. But again, after checking one person on the list, the bell icon stopped responding. I signed out and in again, and, as before, could get the bell icon to respond, but only once, then it went to sleep again. I have taken a snip of the list so that I do not have to keep repeating this tedious process.

Any advice, please?

    @MaryLiddicott

Others have reported that this facility seems to be working erratically. I just checked mine to find that changes have appeared without any notification to that effect.

If you want to check on those you are following, the best option is to ignore the bell and click on Following in the menu under Family Tree near the top left. See below

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    Just in passing ...

Further to; and, in support of, what 'Graham', has already proffered ...

'Yes', the "Notification" 'Bell' Icon, has been a problem/issue (ie. NOT working) for a week or so now ...

Which, impacts a number of things; being, the "Notifications", of the various 'Categories' ...

[ ie. "Discovery"; "General"; "Tree" (eg. "Following"); &, "Temple" (ie. For Member of the Church), 'Messages' ... ]

The problem/issue, has been "Reported"; and, is being "Investigated", by 'FamilySearch':

Here are some previous recent post on the matter:

Still not able to use the Notification Button (Bell). It seems to turn on and off.

    As an aside ...

One 'Workaround', until the problem/issue, is addressed/fixed, is to use the URL:

    https://www.familysearch.org/notifications/

Which takes one, to one's "Notifications"; where, the "Default", is the FIRST 'Category', of "Discoveries".

    [ ie. URL = https://www.familysearch.org/notifications/discoveries ]

    But ...

    That Said ...

ALL, the "Notifications", of the 'Categories'; being, "Discovery"; "General"; "Tree" (eg. "Following"); and, "Temple" (ie. For Member of the Church), will appear, with their respective 'Messages'.

I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat; especially; with that, 'Workaround', until addressed/fixed.
