Problems with the Community System not saving/synching edits
I am running into problem where I edit my response and the system - or someone shadowing me - removes either other text in the comment or does not save those edits properly. It affects the readability of my community responses. I notice most responders continue inline responses rather than editing of their first response - i tend to edit my responses - for what I believe is more clarity - but perhaps this is the cause of the problem. Is there some known issue with the periodic Draft saves removing edited responses or is this a first instance report?

I have advised of problems with vanishing edits from 8 April 2021
Vanishing post in Ideas/Records (Searching and Viewing)
Problem of vanished post possibly related to an edit. Also corrupted URL 30 June 2021
A few days ago 12 September I added a comment about a disappearing edit
I cannot see any indication that there is FS acknowledgement that this problem even exists, let alone an attempt to fix it.

@MaureenE123 Hmm, well that's 2 of us. I don't know what the problem is but suspect it deals with how the Community platform saves Drafts. Perhaps if I edit a comment too much it gets confused in the Save Draft cycle and loses information. The problem could also be a result of how other users are commenting at the same time in a thread - maybe the system can't handle that and loses some information. It doesn't lose it all - just some.

It definitely appears to relate to "too much" editing. I make a point of copying the text before I post / re-post my comments, as I have lost several paragraphs of a response on a few occasions. I also wonder if posting the (revised) comment at just the moment there is an autosave of the draft is a factor connected to this behaviour.
With this being an intermittent problem, I wonder if "FamilySearch" has been unable to replicate it.

It has happened to me when I have altered just one word, to correct a spelling error.

My first experience with the "edit" button was a comment disappearing into permanent limbo. (It has never reappeared.) Editing anything with an image also tends to have bad results. I therefore don't use the edit button much at all. (If the typo is egregious enough, I might risk it once, but I copy-and-paste the revised comment into a text editor before saving it, in case the edit eats it.)
The forum is clearly set up for new responses rather than edited comments: it's a conversation rather than a question with attempts at answers. (Or rather, it's a neither-fish-nor-fowl combination of the two approaches, but with more features of the one than the other. Really the only question-and-answer behavior is how it yanks things out of order when an answer is marked as accepted.)

@Julia Szent-Györgyi I agree that is the way the forum is setup - but I still may want to edit my part in the conversation for clarity/completeness/correction. I'm thinking maybe I might just start any response with a Disclaimer: 😜

Hello? Can anyone see my comments?
[Edit to add: Apparently, this past week my comments were invisible.]
