I downloaded all the charts in the article but then I figured out that they are not "fill in charts" which is not what I wanted. They appear to be charts that makes it simpler to explain to others how relationship work. If I'm right then I'm very disappointed.

Thank you for this, it is more helpful than anything else I have seen explaining the how many times removed from someone you are 😀

A good tool to have. I appreciate this Chart a lot because I was born in South America and was not familiar with this terminology.

Can these charts be annotated or filled in once down loaded? Any suggestions on how to do it?
Thank you!

Thanks for this information! It really helped to explain the once/ twice/ etc removed relationship with cousins, which was actually quite confusing. It will make it easier to understand once I make a copy and fill it out.

Finally! Someone has explained and demonstrated this in a manner which is easily understandable. I have struggled to grasp this for years. Much appreciated.

Excellent!
Thank you for your clear and easy explanation of the line of cousins. Not only for my personal line of cousins, now I am able to see my parents lines of cousins...

Thank you! I have never really understood the cousin, 1st cousin etc. concept. This is a nice simple explanation that I can use to help explain it to my family also.
Thanks again.

You would be more familiar with the more logical Spanish terminology by which you have "tio segundo"/"tia segunda" for the generationally senior relative and "sobrino segundo"/"sobrina segunda" for the generationally junior relative instead of the illogical "first cousin, once removed" for both the generationally senior and junior relatives.
0 -
Actually there is good reason why you have been confused; the same term applied to relatives both generationally senior to you and generationally junior to you is illogical and thus confusing.

You struggled to grasp this terminology for good reason; the same term applied to relatives both generationally senior to you and generationally junior to you is illogical and thus the source of your struggle.

Of course you found the "... removed" terminology quite confusing; the same term applied to relatives both generationally senior to you and generationally junior to you is illogical and thus confusing.

Of course you were confused; the same term applied to relatives both generationally senior to you and generationally junior to you is illogical and thus has to confuse you when that important piece of relationship information, who is generationally senior or junior to you, gets hidden by "... removed."
0 -
Of course it has been difficult for you to understand. Without the coloured stripe chart, when you consider a little child distant relative, known the be generationally junior to you, and you encounter an older adult distant relative, known the be generationally senior to you, and both get labelled as your "Second Cousin, twice removed," your natural reaction will be, "That is absurd."
The most important thing you want to know about your relatives is the distinction between who is generationally contemporary with you and who is either generationally senior or junior to you. The illogic of the "... removed" terminology hides that last bit of vital information.

What will the first cousin once removed's spouse be called?
