Ordinance Screen in Family Tree
- In trying to do the temple ordinance for an ancestor born in 1726, I get the following message: This person's ordinance status is not available. Please contact FamilySearch Support if you are a relative and need more information. (There was no reason this ordinance screen should not have been available). I have had this happen several times and I have had to contact Family Search to do a case. Now it is apparent the system has changed and you do not want people sending emails or (in the future even calling Family Search). The person I talked to walked me through how to find where I could submit my problem. However, I'm not even sure I can remember this for another time.
- My suggestion is: Put a link on the ordinance screen (where it says to contact Family Search) that will go to the Temple work help area to access the box to submit the problem. Also if you need to add a relationship (7th cousin twice removed--which is dumb). Make the form more explicit to what you want on it.

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
[ And, I happen to be a member of the Church ... ]
For your Ancestor born in 1726 ...
Question: Is that individual/person a, "Read-Only", Person?
IF, such is the case; THEN, 'Yes', you CANNOT do ANYTHING (nor, have ANYTHING done); unless, you "Contact" those at 'FamilySearch' "Support.
Plus. you will (Usually) ONLY get anywhere, if you are DIRECTLY "Related".
And ...
There CAN be REASONS why the "Temple" Work CANNOT be done; sometimes, we CANNOT 'see'; and, are NOT privy; as to why.
Here is a "Knowledge Article" in 'FamilySearch':
What are read-only records in Family Tree?
https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/what-are-read-only-records-in-family-tree
Whereas ...
As to "Confidential" People in ones "Private Spaces" ...
Here is a "Knowledge Article" in 'FamilySearch':
How do I request temple ordinances for a confidential person in Family Tree?
Now ...
As an aside ...
'Yes' ...
You are correct ...
The WHOLE way that we NOW make "Contact" with 'FamilySearch' "Support" has CHANGE in format.
[ And, I might add, on a personal note ▬ NOT for the better, unfortunately, very disappointing ... ]
MANY Users/Patrons have been asking the 'Question'; as, WHAT to do; now, that 'FamilySearch', have GOT RID of, the OLD facility to, "Send a [ PRIVATE ] Message", to/with 'FamilySearch' "Support", to CREATE "Support" Cases; now, ONLY allowing, either, (1) Visiting the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum; or, (2) "Telephoning"; or, Having a "Live" ('On-Line') "Chat", with Your LOCAL (Country/Regional) "Support".
There are MANY "Very" UNHAPPY Users/Patrons ...
Currently, we CANNOT even, 'see'; or, get access to, our EXISTING (or, OLD) "Support" Cases.
And, it appears that we well not/never be able to, 'see'; or, get access to, our EXISTING (or, OLD) "Support" Cases - ESPECIALLY, when, often, they NEED "Reopening" (as, the "E-mails", have often been "Deleted").
MANY of us Users/Patrons, PREFER to, "Send a Message" to "Support", thereby creating a "Support" Case, rather than, either, RINGING; or, a "Live" ('On-Line') "Chat".
Believe me, I have done ALL Three; and, the "Send a Message", in just about all cases, was the better option.
We DO NOT want to raise/air such matters in the OPEN nature of the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I for one, DO NOT, want to reference ANY 'FamilySearch Person Identifier" (PID) in the OPEN nature of the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
'FamilySearch', NEEDS to bring BACK, the ability to "Send a Message", to "Support", like we used to, thereby creating a "Support" Case.
I consider, a very DISAPPOINTING, 'Design"; and, "Development", to EXCLUDE the ability to "Send a [ PRIVATE ] Message" feature/facility/function; whereby, one (Automatically) "Created" a 'FamilySearch' "Support" Case, that went DIRECTLY (and, most importantly, PRIVATELY to 'FamilySearch' "Support" ▬ WITHOUT the need to go through (the "Public" nature of) the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
Basically, your suggested enhancement.
Just my thoughts.

I don't understand the answer given above when temple work says to contact family history. Where do you submit a problem?????

I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
[ And, I am a Member of the Church ... ]
'Yes', it certainly can be MORE "Challenging" when it comes to "Temple" Work ...
Here is my take ...
Please let me explain ...
[ And, I am very "Verbose", that is just my 'style' ... ]
FYI
Just some BACKGROUND here ...
It is the same place as we used to:
Help ---> Contact Us ...
Which, when selected, NOW results in this:
Contact Support
https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/contact-familysearch-support
Which is a "Knowledge Article" (in the "Help Centre") of 'FamilySearch'.
With 'Direction', to "Links" to, BOTH,
(1) this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum;
and/or,
(2) ability to contact 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Directly), by either, "Telephone"; and, a "Live" ("On-Line') "Chat.
But ...
That Said ...
There is currently NO option to contact 'FamilySearch' "Support" through a "Send a 'Message" (ie. a "Private" communication), like we used to; whereby, one automatically created a 'FamilySearch' "Support" Case.
The 'FamilySearch' "Support" Cases have GONE - never to be resurrected,
Our "My Cases" have GONE, you CANNOT 'view' or 'access', your previous 'FamilySearch' "Support" Cases, any longer. Again, GONE - never to be resurrected.
The NEW idea/thinking being that ...
In the FIRST instance ...
IF, you have, a simple basic 'Question'; or, just want some "Generic" Help/Assistance; THEN, you go to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum (I will explain this below).
Whereas ...
In the SECOND instance ...
IF, you have, a more complex, specific Problem/Issue, that needs the intervention of 'FamilySearch' "Support"; and, you DO NOT want to make such "Public"; THEN, you go and contact 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Directly), by either, "Telephone"; and, a "Live" ("On-Line') "Chat; and, deal directly with 'FamilySearch' "Support" Personnel.
Now ...
That Said ...
'FamilySearch' "Support" has just been ADDED to, or, I should say, INCLUDED into, the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum - this is ONLY recent.
The "Community.FamilySearch" Forum has been operating for a number of Years; and, was about:
Users/Patrons, HELPING, Users/Patrons ...
Users/Patrons, HELPING, Users/Patrons, HAS been (and, WAS) successfully working/operating, just fine.
There was NO 'FamilySearch' "Support" involvement ...
That has NOW 'Abruptly' CHANGED ...
And ...
As Such ...
The WHOLE way, that we INTERACT, with 'FamilySearch' "Support", has NOW 'Abruptly' CHANGED ...
It is a whole NEW process.
Here is where it gets interesting ...
We CAN raise, more complex, specific Problems/Issues, that needs the intervention of 'FamilySearch' "Support", in the "Public" nature of the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
And, hopefully such, more complex, specific Problems/Issues, that needs the intervention of 'FamilySearch' "Support", WILL be, garnered/taken aside, 'Off-Line', out of "Public" access/view, by 'FamilySearch' "Support" to be dealt with "Privately" (with the particular User/Patrons who raised the matter).
Now ...
Please be aware that, this is a whole NEW Process ...
EVERYONE is getting used to this whole NEW Processing, none more so that those Personnel of 'FamilySearch' "Support".
There ARE 'teething' Problems/Issues, they are being addressed/fixed; as, they are encountered and identified.
It is a whole 'brave new world' ... we are all still 'learning the ropes'.
==========
Now ...
All that Said ...
Specifically in regard to problems/issues relating to "Temple" Work ...
Apart from contacting 'FamilySearch' "Support" DIRECTLY, by either, "Telephone"; and, a "Live" ("On-Line') "Chat; and, dealing directly with 'FamilySearch' "Support" Personnel ...
Another option is to raise "Temple" Work matters, in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, in the "Q and A" Section, under the 'Category' of "Temple".
IF, you DO NOT want to make specific DEATILS about your particular matter "Public"; THEN, the best thing to do, is to simply give a very "Generic" precis of the matter, void of identifying the individuals/persons concerned; and, REQUEST the "Private" contact from 'FamilySearch' "Support" Personnel.
As I advised, hopefully such WILL be, garnered/taken aside, 'Off-Line', out of "Public" access/view, by 'FamilySearch' "Support" to be dealt with you "Privately", through "Private" 'Messaging' in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum (or, maybe, by direct "E-mail").
Here is the direct link that "Temple" category ...
"Q and A" Section
'Category' = "Temple"
Home > Help Center Categories > Temple
Temple
https://community.familysearch.org/en/categories/temple-support
==========
I know I write too much ...
But ...
I hope this helps; and, gives you some perspective.
