Please add some in-profile way to submit a location to qualify as a standardized place
This would be in addition to the procedure outlined in Article 1402, "How do I request an update to the database of standardized places?"
Example:
Saint Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Grafton, Ozaukee, Wisconsin, United States
"Grafton, Ozaukee, Wisconsin, United States" qualifies as a standardized place
"Saint Paul Lutheran Cemetery" is how it's referred to in Find-A-Grave index entries
"St. Paul Lutheran" is how that church refers to itself on its website
Neither "Saint Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Grafton, Ozaukee, Wisconsin, United States" nor "St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Grafton, Ozaukee, Wisconsin, United States" qualify as standardized, though other "Saint Paul Lutheran Cemetery" entries in Wisconsin have been added to the list.
My suggestion is a way, instead of stopping and going to https://www.familysearch.org/research/places/, to save the entry as unstandardized, then within the "Edit" window click a box that automatically submits it for consideration as a standardized place.
Thanks

Family Tree already has this, but it is obscure. In the edit boxes for Birth and Death the "best guess" at a standardized place name is the top of a pull-down menu and at the bottom of the menu is "None of the above". Select that, and the place name and profile get a red "!" flag.
Flagged place names get worked on by contributors who use the Family Tree smartphone app: More menu, Improve Place-Names. But this feature supports only choosing a standardized place name, if an appropriate one exists. The app does not support additions or changes to the FT catalog of standardized place names; as you are aware, that part of the process is on the web.
What would help is checkboxes on the Edit page to report various situations we encounter. I often want to report:
- The place name needs to be entered into the FT catalog.
- The standardized name for this place needs correction.
Here is a contrived example. "Tivertown" is a typo but what if it were an actual place not yet in the catalog? FT would suggest other place names in the catalog and at the bottom of the list, plus "None of the above".

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
FYI
There are ALREADY, a NUMBER of ways, that a User/Patron, CAN submit, a REQUEST for (New) 'Place' (Name), for consideration, to be ADDED, to the "Research/Places" Database in 'FamilySearch' ...
FIRSTLY ...
When you ACCESS the "Research/Places" Database in 'FamilySearch' ...
"+ Suggest a New Place"
https://www.familysearch.org/research/places/?pagenum=1&pagesize=20
SECONDLY ...
There is also the OPPORTUNITY to "Improve" a 'Place' (Name) already in the "Research/Places" Database in 'FamilySearch' ...
"Improve This Place"
THIRDLY ...
Through/In a 'Group' in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum ...
FamilySearch Places
Description:
Help us improve our database of places. Unable to find a place in the Family Tree? Find a place that is misspelled or has other data errors? Come here to share those issues so they can be fixed.
https://community.familysearch.org/en/group/68-familysearch-places
FOURTHLY ...
By DIRECT "E-mail" straight to the "Authorities Team" of the "Standards Team" of the "Research/Places" Database in 'FamilySearch':
placefeedback@familysearch.org
FINALLY ...
Through by submitting a "Support" Case in 'FamilySearch':
Oops ...
That LAST one seems to have "Changed" ...
We DO NOT seem to be able to SUBMIT "Support" Cases, ANY more ...
.
I hope this helps.

@Brett . , the original poster already knows about that procedure; it is referenced in the original post.
This post is not asking for help from other contributors, it is asking for the engineers to change how FT works. A related request:

Daniel, excellent idea. Especially because the Places Research Tool is not very well publicized and I don't think very many people know about it. The only way to get to it is to already know its URL or through the Site Map link at the bottom of all FamilySearch website pages.
If I may hijack your idea with a suggestion, I think the best way to accomplish this would be to put a link in the edit box which opens a new tab and goes directly to the "Suggest A New Place Name" form at: https://www.familysearch.org/research/places/?pagenum=1&pagesize=20&feedbackCreate=true
Something like:

Bingo - that's an improvement on what I had in mind - feel free to hijack as you see fit!
