Default Setting For Groups
Should the default setting take you to All Groups or My Groups? Please let me know your thoughts on how this functionality could/should work.

My Groups.
The reason I picked out my groups is so that I can get to the groups I am interested in efficiently.
It would be fine for the default to be All Groups if the navigation could be: 1) Click Groups, 2) Click My Groups, 3) Click selection, 4) Read questions, 5) Click back arrow to return to My Groups. However that is not how the navigation currently works. The current state is: 1) Click Groups, 2) Click My Groups, 3) Click selection, 4) Read questions, 5) Click back arrow to return to All Groups. 6) Click My Groups and that is really irritating, in particular because it takes so long for the pages to refresh.

@Gordon Collett Thanks for the detailed feedback!

It should default to My Groups, I dont need to see the groups I am not part of, I joined groups to stay connected and should see those first by default.

I would like it to default to My Groups also. If I need to find another group, I would go searching, but I am most interested in My Groups. It just makes more sense to me.

Just like 'Gordon', from my recent ( 19 May 2020 ) post that has been "Closed" [ and, I assume by you .., ]
FamilySearch. 'Thank You', for now, making the "Default", for 'Groups', that of "All Groups'.
You will be aware of my thoughts ... but, there is a "Twist" ...
I would humbly suggest that, the "Default', for the "Groups" Section, in the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, SHOULD be (and, REMAIN) that of "All Groups", to which is has finally been made.
The reasons that I suggest such are:
[ 1 ]
IF, the "Default", for the "Groups" Section, was that of "My Groups"; THEN, for NEW or the less experienced participants of the "Commmunity.FamilySearch' Forum, that would be, almost, utterly useless; as, they would most likely have not "Joined" (or, even, "Follow") ANY 'Group' or 'Groups' (or, in the least, very few).
[ 2 ]
And, as for the regular/experienced more participants, who have, "Joined"; and/or, "Follow" a 'Group' or number of 'Groups', I would humbly suggest, it is the 'My Feeds' Section, that SHOULD have those 'Groups', as the "Default", on the 'left-hand-side' of that page/screen, rather than that utterly useless, "Community News".
That said ...
As an aside ...
I tried, during the "Development" stages, for the NEW Platform, of the Forum, to get that "My Feeds" Section, 'revamped'.
I even advised that, that "My Feeds" Section, is NOT / NOTHING like the "My Feeds" from the previous platform. And, in fact, suggested that, it would be best to just get rid of the "My Feeds" Section altogether, rather than have it in the proposed state.
[ 3 ]
As a somewhat experienced User/Patron ...
I STILL want to 'see', that "All Groups'; as, the "Default", under the "Groups" Section.
I am NOT interested, in 'seeing' ,"My Groups"; as, the "Default, in that Section.
One reason being is that, I can quickly 'see', at a glance, if there are any NEW and interesting 'Groups'.
There are ALREADY two (x2), quick; and, easy, "Options", available to the more experienced participants:
(1) Simply select the "My Groups" ('Tab') to 'see' the list of "My Groups" that one has "Joined"/"Follows"; or,
(2) Just go to the "My Feeds" Section to 'see' the list of "My Groups" that one has "Joined"/"Follows"
Now ...
The 'Twist' ...
I have an alternate proposal, that should be workable to all ... appease all concerned ...
How about this ... and, wait for it ...
Leave the "Default" PRESET, for the "Groups" Section, as that of "ALL Groups" ...
BUT ...
------------------
Have an OPTION, to make WHATEVER "Set" of 'Groups'
ie.
All Groups;
My Groups;
Featured Groups;
FamilySearch Products and Tools Group;
RootsTech Groups;
Latter-Day Saint Groups;
Research Groups;
Volunteer Groups; General Groups
a participant so DESIRES; as, the "Default" ...
------------------
You never know, what "Set" of 'Groups', a participant may prefer - why dictate/restrict, give them a choice ...
In other words ...
A SETTABLE "Default", that can be, decided upon; and, changed to, whatever a participant decides ...
Thus, the "All Groups" being a GENERIC (PRESET) "Default"; but SETTABLE (or, I should say, a "Resettable"), rather than being 'set in stone/concrete' ...
That way ...
For the NEW (and, very inexperienced) participants, the "All Groups", would automatically be the (PRESET) "Default", in the "Groups" Section. Especially, as it would be more likely that NEW (and, very inexperienced) participants would most likely have not "Joined" (or, even, "Follow") ANY 'Group' or 'Groups' (or, in the least, very few).
Whereas ...
For the regular/experienced more participants, THEY have the OPTION to 'Set" WHATEVER they particularly PREFER as the "Default".
The 'best of both worlds', so to speak ...
And, as in my case/preference, I DO NOT have to do anything ... as, the PRESET "Default" is sufficient
But, at least, the "My Groups" is NOT foisted upon me ...
As usual ...
Just my thoughts.

Regarding Brett's reason 1 above: I would maintain that the All Groups is the useless category, other than occasionally looking for new groups, because one cannot add any comment to a group until one joins the group. That group then is immediately added to the My Groups tab.
I would be happy with a fixed, personalized default; a separate menu item for My Groups (basically a My Feeds that functions more efficiently than Groups rather than less efficiently as it does now), or at a minimum that when going Menu item Groups to All Groups to My Groups to a specific group the back arrow on the browser would go from the specific group to My Groups rather than from the specific group to Groups.
The other day I timed myself and starting from the home page, going to the one topic in Q and A I keep an eye on, then each of the nine groups I follow, then each of the three Ideas topic I watch, due to all the excessive repetitive clicking and slow, repetitive page reloading, took five minutes without reading a single post. With the amount of ground I actually covered, I would have thought it would take less than one.

Wow ...
That is a little over the top, to maintain that, "All Groups", is a useless category.
We NEED a 'Tab' that lists ALL the (ie. 'Normal' ) 'Groups' in the "Commmunity.FamilySearch' Forum.
And ...
Exactly my point ...
For NEW or the less experienced participants of the "Commmunity.FamilySearch' Forum, having "My Groups" as the "Default" would be, almost, pointless; as, they would most likely have not "Joined" (or, even, "Follow") ANY 'Group' or 'Groups' (or, in the least, very few).
And ...
As I already suggested ...
That personalised "Default", for "My Groups", ALREADY exists, in the "My Feeds" Section.
[ Although, also as I have already suggested, that "My Feeds" Section needs a lot of work ... ]
And ...
'Yes' ...
I could not agree more ...
Compared to the previous Platform of this "Commmunity.FamilySearch' Forum, this current (New) Platform of the Forum, is TEDIOUS and 'Time Consuming'; and, certainly NOT as 'User-Friendly'.
Personally ...
I wish we could RETURN to the previous Platform of this "Commmunity.FamilySearch' Forum.
Certainly, until this current (New) Platform of the Forum was working much better.
But ...
That said ...
That is NOT going to happen; as, too much, MONEY; and, TIME, has been 'invested' in the current (New) Platform of the Forum.
Too bad ...
From a User perspective, the previous Platform of this "Commmunity.FamilySearch' Forum, was much better; and, just need some 'tweaking'.
