FamilySearch. 'Thank You', for now, making the "Default", for 'Groups', that of "All Groups'.
FamilySearch
As there is NO "Praise" as in previous versions of 'Feedback' ...
'Thank You', for changing the "Default", for 'Groups', from that of "Featured Groups", to that of "All Groups".
As, had been requested, by a number of Users/Patrons ...
That is much better; and, saves 'time' and 'key strokes' ...
Again, 'Thank You'.

I've been meaning to get around to requesting that the default be "My Groups." The change noted here does not make any change in the time or clicks it takes to get to the groups I am interested in. Do most people really want to see that screen of all groups when they are only following a few of them? Please reconsider, maybe take a poll, and see if most users do anything on the Groups menu item other than immediately click on "My Groups."

Small steps ...
It has taken this long, just to get the "Default" for 'Groups', to be made that of "All Groups", instead of that less-essential "Featured Groups' ...
And ...
I understand what you are 'saying' regarding, "My Groups", in 'Groups'.
Especially, for experienced participants like yourself ...
But ...
That said ...
I take a different 'tack' ...
I would humbly suggest that, the "My Groups" in 'Groups', as a "Default", for NEW or the less experienced participants of the "Commmunity.FamilySearch' Forum, would be, almost, utterly useless; as, they would most likely have not "Joined" (or, even, "Follow") any 'Groups' (or, in the least, very few).
Whereas, in regard to the 'Groups' that WE (as, regular/experienced participants) have, "Joined"; and/or, "Follow", I would humbly suggest, it is the 'My Feeds' Section, that SHOULD have OUR 'Groups', as the "Default", on the 'left-hand-side' of that page/screen, rather than that utterly useless, "Community News".
Or, in the least, the "Topics", from the "Ideas" (ie. "Feedback") Section, that we "Follow".
I tried, during the "Development" stages, for the NEW Platform, of the Forum, to get that "My Feeds" Section, 'revamped'.
I even advised that, that "My Feeds" Section, is NOT / NOTHING like the "My Feeds" from the previous platform.
In fact, I suggested that, it would be best to just get rid of the "My Feeds" Section altogether, rather than have it in the proposed state. Just one of a number of the things that made me 'persona non grata'.
I am sorry to take a different 'tack'.
And, I hope that I have not offended you, with this comment of mine.

I agree with Brett that the default should be All Groups to cater for new or less experienced participants in FamilySearch Community.
It has been said elsewhere that the reason for the new platform is to cater for an increase in traffic. Presumably those would be new people who are new to the website.
For experienced users such as Gordon who are already members of Groups, cannot they bookmark a link to "My Groups" if they wish to go straight there? Or is that not technically possible?

There is NO need, to "Bookmark" a link, to "My Groups", under the 'Groups' Section.
NOT that I, use; or, find it that useful, under this NEW Platform, like I did under the PREVIOUS Platform ...
But ...
That said ...
One just needs to go to the "My Feeds" Section ...
There, on the 'right-hand-side', of the page/screen, under "Choose a Feed", are THREE (x3), options:
[ Unfortunately, which you must 'Drop Down' to 'see'; and, only one at a time can be accessed ... ]
▬ My Groups; and,
▬ Topic I Follow; and,
▬ My Bookmarks
For those "Options" to 'Drop Down', to 'see' ones, 'Groups'; or, 'Topics'; or, "Bookmarks", one must select that, "Plus" in the 'Circle', link/symbol.
The aforementioned is what I was referring to in my previous post ( ie. "Comment").
Those THREE (x3) options, are what I was trying, during the "Development" stages, for the NEW Platform, of the Forum, to get MOVED to the 'left-hand-side' of the page/screen of the "My Feeds" Section; and, have a 'sizable' amount of the them appear, without the need to always 'Drop' them 'Down'.
Or, failing that, to just to get rid of that "My Feeds" Section, altogether; as, it was NOT / NOTHING like the "My Feeds" from the previous platform.
I considered (and, still do consider) that, that "Community News" part, of the "My Feeds" Section, to be utterly useless; well, especially, for more experienced participants.
But, alas, my thoughts/comments (and, approach) were obviously not considered; nor, appreciated.
just my thoughts.

@Brett . Hi Bret, thank you for the kind word. We’re glad to hear the change to default to All Groups was well received. As for your suggestions in this thread, I’ve captured the specifics and will mark this as under consideration.

One simple line of programming is all that is needed for new users:
IF MyGroupsList = blank THEN GOTO AllGroupsList
Also, a single line of text couple be added to the My Groups page:
"Click on All Groups to find new groups to add to your list."

But ...
I am a somewhat experienced User/Patron ...
And, I STILL want to 'see', that "All Groups'; as, the "Default", under the "Groups" Section.
[ I am NOT interested, in 'seeing' ,"My Groups"; as, the "Default, in that Section ... ]
{ Plus, that way, I can quickly 'see', at a glance, if there are any NEW and interesting 'Groups' ... }
There are ALREADY two (x2), quick; and, easy, "Options":
(1) Simply select the "My Groups" ('Tab') in that Section ...
[ to 'see', the list of "My Groups", that I have "Joined" ]; or,
(2) As I suggested ...
IF, I WANT to 'see' ,"My Groups", that I have "Joined"; THEN, all I have to do is, go to the "My Feeds" Section ...
[ Mind you ... ONCE they fix/address that Section, in the format, that I suggested, in my above response ... ]
{ Otherwise, I WILL just give that "My Feeds" Section a miss altogether, in its present format ...
.. certainly NOT the "My Feeds" of OLD ... }

@Gordon Collett Thank you, I appreciate the feedback and will pass on the code comment to our development team. As for the poll, the Ideas area of community was intended to do what you described. I'd suggest a separate thread be started for both ways of using Groups. Perhaps this would help illustrate the pros and cons of each, which will help us make informed decisions.
@Gordon Collett & @Brett . Thank you both for the discussion, the feedback is very much appreciated. Great example of one process being used in multiple ways.
