Please, help me translate a birth record. I'm looking for the farm name, and witnesses names for verification. There are possible duplicates to my family member, and this is one of the choices in the duplicate. My family member is from Hoft farm, in Lom, Oppland, Norway. I'm not sure if this is his birth record or not. Could someone please translate the whole entry for me, so that I can make comparisons. Thanks

Ole Halvorsen 6th child down on right page

Thanks

Comparing the register with its transcribed version, the transcription looks very accurate. You will find it here: https://www.digitalarkivet.no/en/view/255/pd00000006151695

You get to these transcription by using the "Search Transcribed Source" links on the right hand side of the page:

Be sure to check who did the transcription. I have found that if it was a Norwegian, a Norwegian historical or genealogical group, or the Archive itself, they are usually of very high quality and accuracy, as this one is.

If however the contributor is AMF, the transcription can be highly inaccurate and not to be trusted at all. Because of that, those sections are much harder to search in due to the transcription errors. They are better than nothing, however, and can get to you the original record quicker than searching page by page..

I am part of the Nordic Countries Genealogy Research group, I just haven't been able to figure out how to access it on the new Communities page, or how to use it to ask questions.

    Thanks for the information though.

So after much searching and merging, I found out my sister had the wrong person. This record is for an Ole Halvorsen who's parents lived on StoerØdergaarden farm. My Ole Halvorsen was from Hoft farm. Also my Ole was born in 1771 according to marriage records, and a 1801 census record, and still lived on Hoft farm. So I found the correct birth record for my Ole Halvorsen 24 January 1771 to father, Halvor Hoft.

Thanks again for helping me figure out how to find the information that I needed.
