Add a group to report Collection issues

I really appreciate the group available to quickly report issues with place names.

We could use a group that allows for quick reporting of issues with record collections:

  1. Named incorrectly
  2. Assigned an incorrect standardized place name
  3. Described incorrectly in the catalog (i.e., date range of records in collection does not match date range in description)

Thanks for considering!

Excellent idea - after all there is one for "Places", but this only mainly deals with requests for adding new standard place names.

The problem seems to be that FamilySearch does not have (or allocate) the resources to address such issues, so we might become even more exasperated if there was a dedicated group for reporting these issues, but still nothing was done to remedy these reports.

The responses I have received from "Support" when requesting metadata corrections (e.g. records all recorded under incorrect location name) have not been positive. I believe there have been a few corrections over the nine or ten years I have been working in FamilySearch, but some reported issues still remain, many years later.

Although I agree that your suggestion is an excellent idea, sadly the management of FamilySearch gives a very low priority to such matters, as evidenced by the fact that the button on Catalog pages " Report Errors " has been withdrawn

Refer also to my post  "Request for more resources for Historical Records" dated April 9, 2021, https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/83504/request-for-more-resources-for-historical-records#latest in which I said

"I sent a request through Support regarding records in the Catalog.

I received a reply which in part said (my change to Uppercase for emphasis)

We have documented the errors and reported them to our records team. We currently have a backlog of corrections regarding our historical records. AS A RESULT, IT COULD TAKE LONGER THAN A YEAR TO CORRECT THE ERRORS.  Since this has been reported, we will close your case."

There was no response from anyone connected with FamilySearch and today this Idea in Records (Searching and Viewing) has had, according to that page a total of 13 views. So obviously not a topic many are interested in, and I wonder if in fact anyone from FamilySearch has even read it.

I have no idea at what level of management decisions are made about allocation of budget resources, but whoever makes these decisions seems to place Collection issues towards the bottom of the list.
