Please don't limit number of batches we can check out

Like many Indexers/Reviews, I have a goal to Review a specific number of records each day (the number will vary on the complexity of the project). It makes my life easier when I can start the day by checking out all of the batches I want to do that day and then just work on those batches until I'm done. The current project I've been working on is Wisconsin Death Records and I'm limited to checking out 2 batches at a time and each batch contains only 2 images. I'm sure there is a good reason for limiting the number of batches that can be checked out but please be a little more generous in letting us check out more batches, especially when there are a small number of records per batch. It is so much easier for us to "Work on my next batch", than to "Find Batches".

Thanks for listening.

I would be motivated to do a lot more and would accomplish a lot more as well if I could check them out in more efficient numbers!

I agree with the above. Especially when entries are in the thousands that need reviewing and you are limited to 2 or 4 records.

In case you’re not aware, when you submit a batch, one of the options when the confetti is falling is to “Check out a similar batch.” So you don’t need to go to “Find Batches.” It’s just about as easy as selecting “My next batch.”

I agree with John, it takes exactly the same amount of time to click on Similar Batch and have it download as it does to download My Next Batch. So rather than having people hold onto 10 batches and maybe get them done and maybe not get them done, the process is probably more efficient to have indexers/reviewers downloading Similar Batches one at a time. (BTW - This is a really old post from 2020. It's funny how these things turn up).

It would be even quicker if we had a keyboard shortcut, such as the Enter key, to get a similar batch.

I am an experienced indexer currently indexing New York Naturalization Records. I have suggested this project to my ward members and to our family group of indexers that includes Primary age children because the records are typed. I see two places where new indexers may get 'hung up' and wonder if there might be a note (that I have seen on other batches) alerting these beginners: First, the indexer needs to pay careful attention to the image number and the entry number that they are on (shown above the entry fields), second, they need to be careful to make distinction between birthdate versus event date when typing entries, and finally, they will need to use the trash can icon and delete 'all blank entries' before trying to submit their completed batch.

You might want to support this Idea:

@TAYLORSUSANMARIE1 I would like to point out two more things that you might want to be sure new indexers are aware of, 1) noting these peoples current names and their names upon arrival 2) correctly entering the event place. Quite a few people have a variation of their name on these documents and the event place is indexed quite differently than most naturalization projects (city, district, state, country). I'm not sure that this project is a one for those in primary school, but, maybe they read instructions, field helps, and examples better than most!

I agree with allowing us to have the limit brought back to 10 batches to "check out", as long as we don't let them sit and expire when someone else could have worked on them. Secondly, someone mentioned about Reviewing a certain number of batches over a period of time. When I started reviewing (arbitrator as it was called on the other system), we were strongly encouraged to also keep indexing, not to allow the number of batches reviewed to exceed the number indexed as we could lose the priviledge to do indexing or reviewing. So I am careful to not let my indexing numbers exceed my reviewing.
