Census id's seem largest issue; easiest to list townshp/village/city, etc. w county, state & add further info, i.e. ward/district as notation.
Genealogy classes have stated to list location as it was at time of event, i.e. Slovakia in 1850's SHOULD be listed as such NOT Czecheslovakia. Standard spellings today are not the same as early years, esp. in Europe where boundaries changed, but location should be given as it was at time of the event not as known today--a notation to this fact could always be added in 'Collaboration' or notation in entry reason.
I use name as listed in MF rec of LDS at.
The above cause frequent errors in 'Non-Standard' place issues, also many locations, cemeteries, parishes etc. also cause issues in entering data.

rwolfmeyer said: I only tried the indexing suggestion re: Non-standard location names issues that was offered. I replied to the "Feedback" to note the 2 major causes of problems, but did not want to be added to any ongoing email contacts.
I removed my email from my settings because removing myself was too complicated for me.
I will try to re-enter my email to my settings as it is the only email I have. I have contributed much documented information to familysearch site over time so I want to continue to do so, but am not interested in furthering joining discussion groups of any kind.
Please reply to my email: ritagen@hotmail.com as before. I will NOT open an additional email account if the settings does not re-accept my previous email address.
Thanks for your attention to this

Click on your name or your quilt square icon anywhere you seen them to come here:
Then click on E-mail and Notifications to come here:
Uncheck everything.
Now you will never get any e-mails from this board. Just keep in mind that your feedback is still public since that is how the feedback system works.0 -
