"Add Match" button not appearing on "Add Person" screen

Over the last couple of month, I've reported several problems related to the absence of the "Add Match" button which prevents me from selecting a match. When that happens, I'm forced to choose "No Match", add the person, and then search for and merge the newly created person with the person I wanted to match with, but couldn't.
Sometimes there's a gender mismatch between the data and the person I want to match to. This seems to cause the "Add Match" button to not appear. In one or two cases, I was able to fix the gender mismatch and then get the "Add Match" button to appear. Perhaps data problems are the reason behind "Add Match" not showing. If so, it would be great if there was a message giving the reason why "Add Match" does not appear. If some cases, we could then correct a data problem and proceed to add the match. Thanks for your help with this.

This is a good point. The gender issue is something that needs to be addressed.
Please provide more information as to where you are running into this problem.
Such, as, are you working with the results of a hint and if so, what is the person ID where this occurred? Engineers can examine the problem on the beta site to see the actual problem.
Or, is this something that is happening with a merge (not necessarily the result of a possible duplicate)? Again, person IDs will help.
Or, the next time you run into this, capture screen shots and post them in a reply (not a comment). A good tool to add arrows, etc., is irfanview, a free tool that really works well with genealogical photographs, screen captures, and so on.0 -
David B. Atkinson said: Tom, I'll do a better job of screen capture as I come across problems. The challenge for me will be to leave the problem as is rather than fixing it by editing person data.
It's great to have a better way to communicate. I'll be in touch!0 -
Tom Huber said: Thanks, David. I noticed something in another issue you raised and that is something that hints that the system you are using is not a Windows computer, but possibly a mobile device and app or browser on that.0

David B. Atkinson said: Tom, I'm going to attach an of images of a wedding task with 3 grooms and no bride that I encountered last night. I didn't' try to process the record.
Here are some names and IDs that may help:
Parents of Bride:
John H. Rollins L7FV-L97
Emily Paine KL27-CX4
This couple had 6 daughters: Two daughters were married to men with last names nothing like the parents of groom, 1 died at birth, another died at age 14. Two daughters show no spouse and no date of death: Emma and Alice.
Hooray! I finally found a no match for Parents of Groom and it looks like it is the record I was trying to process last night. It was the only match for "May S Dicky" who was listed as the mother of groom:
- Digital folder Number: 004703867
- Record Number: 1115
I'll attach a screen print for it. Maybe this will allow you to crack the code!
