Carolyn Wheeler said: I am logged in to GS on my iPad and iPhone but cannot log in on my Mac laptop using either Safari or Chrome. Every time I log in it appears to work, but then says I still need to log in.

I would send a screenshot, but it’s on my laptop and that doesn’t work. Sigh...

Help!! What am I doing wrong?

I do not use an "Apple" Computer ...
But, I was just wondering ...
Have to tired "Clearing" your "Cookies" and "Cache" on you 'Laptop' ...
    And, then, trying again ...

    Just a thought.

I always get that when I am travelling, using my 'Mobile' Phone; and, get a e-mail about a "GetSatisfaction" post; then, access it from the "VIEW REPLY/COMMENT" 'Button' on the e-mail; and, then, decided I want to make a 'Reply'/'Comment'.

But, not on my Laptop computer.

Tom Huber said: The issue appears to be the way the signin from GetSat works.

While it does sign into FamilySearch, it still fails to return to the Get Sat forum.

If I sign into FamilySearch and then use Feedback to access GetSat, that seems to work...

Whether that works with all system/browser combinations -- I can't say.

Definitely something that FamilySearch engineers need to test. The signin, started from a Get Sat discussion (or the site), needs to return to the same page once the sign in is complete.

JT said: The answer is a bit technical, but it's because of "enhancements" to Chrome.
The answer is from Travis Nelson (employee) on about March 25th at:

    https://getsatisfaction.com/familysea... (getsatisfaction.com/familysearch/topics/problem-issue-unable-to-post-in-familysearch-get-satisfaction-feedback-forum-using-google-chrome-windows-10-for-a-couple-of)

    Copied here:

To fix this you will need to go to the URL bar in Chrome and type chrome://flags
Then in the search bar type SameSite.
This will bring up three cookie items.
Set all three to disabled, and it will prompt you to restart Chrome.
After a restart, the feedback link will work. See Link for Image.

    Wow ... good one

    My own post ...

Problem/Issue. UNABLE to post in "FamilySearch" ("Get Satisfaction") 'Feedback' Forum using Google Chrome/Windows 10, for a couple of Hours!
    https://getsatisfaction.com/familysea...

But ... in my defence ...

Despite the fact that "Chrome" was mentioned by 'Carolyn' ...

I did not realise that the "Safari" Browser for "Apple" was affected in that way; as, no one mentioned the "Safari" Browser for "Apple" in my post; and, as I do not use "Apple"; nor, did I ever get that "Sign In" requirement/option with 'Google' "Chrome".

I wonder if "Safari" Browser for "Apple" has that "Flags" and "Experiments" setup?

Tom Huber said: It should be noted that Chrome has just received a significant security update. I first saw in in an article from Forbes.

Here are several more links about the same thing.

    https://portswigger.net/daily-swig/go...
    https://www.laptopmag.com/news/google...
    https://in.mashable.com/tech/13295/go...

What concerns me is that any fix that may be in the works may be impacted by the update and as such, other features may break while using Chrome.

Carolyn Wheeler said: I am still having this exact same problem. I cannot post from my Mac laptop. I was hoping this would have been fixed by now. Could a GetSatisfaction administrator please respond with a solution?

As an FYI, this was never a problem until about a month or so ago.

If that doesn't work, try incognito mode. Seems I heard that would help diagnose what you're running into - cookie problem...

Tom Huber said: I was able to create a post on GetSat and then was prompted to sign in. That worked by opening a smaller window for signing into FamilySearch, and then it closed and posted my reply.

    Windows 10 laptop using Chrome.
