I'm not an employee of FamilySearch (FS). I am just another user of the resources there. Based on your question, I thought the following items might also be of interest to you:

1. This is not a commercial site. It has not been set up to make money. It's primary reasons for existence have to do with the importance of families as promoted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

2. FS will not give any information about you to venders, or other places. You can allow some of this if you want to by going to the Settings area of your account after you've logged in.

3. The FS site has two major sections:

3a. The first section contains all of the databases with information about historic records (about 30% are indexed and 70% unindexed so far). It also contains images for books of genealogical interest, There are also some church legacy databases including one where over the years people have uploaded GEDCOM files that belong to them but are searchable by anyone else in the system.

3b. The second main section is the FS FamilyTree (i.e., the "Tree"). It currently contains over 1.2 billion names in it along with vitals and family relationships for each of the names. All of the work being recorded in FS is done in this one massive shared tree. Patrons to FS do NOT have their own privately controlled trees. Instead, everyone with common ancestors will see the exact same records for those ancestors, and will have write and modify capabilities for them as well. This tree can be searched as well and can provide you with a view of all the information that has currently been accumulated on a given person.

If you provide that PID, it is easier for folks to assist. If you just click on the number, a "Copy to clipboard" link comes up and by selecting it, it will put the PID on your clipboard so that you can paste it wherever you want

the final entry will say Delete Person if you can delete him. Otherwise, you can call support at 1-866-406-1830 to get him changed to deceased so you can merge him with the other copy you have of him.
