Feedback on Subgroup creation

Tyler McKay Reynolds said: I'd like to be able to select members of a group and add them to a subgroup instead of having to look up the contact name of each person I want to add. Also, perhaps use the same settings as in Gospel Living Circles to just automatically assign members to a subgroup in each ward.

We all share an active interest in using the resources of this site and as users, we have various levels of knowledge and experience and do our best to help each other with concerns, issues, and/or questions.
It sounds like you are wanting a feature that has nothing to do with the FamilySearch site.
I have no idea what the "subgroup" is about. It sounds like you desire to put together a ward (possibly) mailing list.
You mentioned Gospel Living Circles, which is at "https://tech.churchofjesuschrist.org/...
Please be aware the FamilySearch is an organization within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has several means to communicate, including an internal (to FamilySearch) messaging system, FamilySearch Communities (https://community.familysearch.org/s/) and this GetSatisfaction community support forum (https://getsatisfaction.com/familysearch).
Any Church correspondence should be handled outside of FamilySearch.org. Contact your local leadership for any policies and/or instructions.0 -

'G'Day', morning ...
I do not know for certain; but, it is possible that 'Tyler' may be just referring to:
(1) a "Group" of Users/Patrons working on the same "Deceased" individual/person in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch", rather than contacting them 'one by one' ... [ But, definitely NOT "Spam" ]
or, even ...
(2) a "Sub-Group" of an 'Group' (eg. Ward/Branch) in regard to "Indexing" of "FamilySearch".
Of course, the latter, a "Sub-Group" of an 'Group' (eg. Ward/Branch) in regard to "Indexing" is ALREADY possible.
And ...
'Tom', you are certainly correct that, depending on the nature of the 'Group' that 'Tyler' is talking about, a 'Group' (eg. "Private"; or, "Public") in the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum may be the way to go.
Just some thoughts.

You indicate that "... functionality is lacking ...".
What are lacking functionality are referring to?
What was the 'context' of the 'Group' and 'Sub-Group' that you were referring to:
- Just within a Ward
- "Indexing" ('Group') in a Ward
- Existing 'Group' within "Community.FamilySearch"
or, something else?
