I don't know if input on the version I saw this morning would be helpful, but the new version that was implemented this morning was confusing & not as helpful as the "old version" that's been in place for a long time. The 1 of 3, 2 of 3 & final merge being separate pages was not helpful & not being able to see both names at the top with both of their birth & death dates included just below their name (the new version this morning only included the names). Also, having to orient to the right side being the individual being kept was also a huge unwelcome change. Thank you for putting the old version back & I hope the 'new version' I saw this morning is not implemented at all.

Keep those thoughts in mind. I'm pretty sure that it's removal is only temporary. It had some fatal flaws in it that amazingly, made it through FS test procedures. Anyway, once those are fixed, it will return.

By the way, what those extra pages are for is attempting to mitigate so other problematic issues. So they will be put back, but feedback from individuals like yourself will help it to evolve into something better than it is today.

Further input I have is the colors used were a real problem for me. What was wrong with the green & black colors? All the colors they used made the whole page a distraction, very busy, which detracted from focusing on the process. It's one thing for make changes for improvement, it's another to revamp the whole process AND change the colors AND make it multiple pages AND make it more difficult than it was before. Merging is already an involved process, but the new process made it even MORE difficult, which will cause more error.

You're right, no doubt. Unfortunately, it will be back. *sigh* Some changes they've made in FS are welcomed, this one is not. One change I really appreciate is when one is connecting sources we can standardize the date & place right in that same screen, saving the time needed to go back to the personal page to edit. I give HUGE kudos for that improvement. It truly is an improvement!! Thanks FS!!!

I love doing this work for my family & have a most positive experience. I'd have to say this is the 1st time I've really bucked hard.

Again, thank you for your reply Jeff!

    Blessings,
    Kellie Sue :)

Jeff Wiseman said: Kelly, in the engineering industry, there is a word for some of this...it's called "prettifying". There are two main problems with it:

    1. Without a standard to work to, what is "pretty" to one person, is not to the next. It is totally subjective and tends to be focused on what the designer likes and not the needs of those users of the end product.

    2. Engineers get so wrapped up in the creativity and "artwork" of how the product or document looks, that they miss getting the logical functions or documentation contents actually correct.
