Duplicate sources/hints.

The second index is likely from a totally different document owner and therefore is really a true (different) source even if the contents look the same. Also note that there are frequently subtle differences between index files that may need to be considered with making conclusions.

Also If you don't attach all sources in the FS database to the correct people in the tree, someone will get an errant hint on the wrong person and attach it there. This confuses the search and hints engine so that things won't work as efficiently as it now thinks those two unrelated people are likely duplicates.

You really should attach all pertinent sources even though it is extra work.

The bottom line is that we are told to attach all sources, regardless of whether they are a duplicate index issue, or a second filming of the same record.

We have been told (in yet another discussion) that there is some movement toward looking at attached sources and grouping the duplicates under a single heading. That appears to be quite a way off in development.
