Amy Archibald said: The fan chart, via the FamilySearch Family Tree app, on an Android phone can be extended to 7 generations currently. If you select the Options icon, the top part is defaulted to 4 Generations with a drop down arrow to the right. Select the arrow and you can extend up to 7 generation.0

Amy Archibald said: The same Options icon exists with an iPhone, IPad, etc. The fan chart can extend to 7 generations - the drop down is at the top the screen.0

Amy Archibald said: Oh! I just read that you want more than 7! Sorry I missed that.0

Jordi Kloosterboer said: I think it would also be nice to have at least 7 generations for dependency (to click once). Right now we only have 4, then we have to click on each arrow to go further down.0

Tom Huber said: The limit of seven generations is for readability. Plus, the more generations that are added, the more sensitive the chart is to touch screens.
There are better fan charting solutions, but associated with other applications. I briefly explored Ancestral Quest's charting solutions (which I use but have no other connection to the product or the company) and found there is a charting companion that offers some interesting solutions. You may want to explore these if you must have larger charts, perhaps printed on larger stock.0 -
I don't see a drop down on my laptop. Is there a way to get 7 generations on a laptop?

@LegacyUser Thank you for you suggestion. It has been passed on to the appropriate Product Manager.

@Jane Cantrell Brookman, this is a zombie thread from three and a half years ago, revived by a comment this afternoon. You can tell that it's old from the "LegacyUser" username.
@kathrine kristensen, you can get rid of the toolbar by clicking on it.

With Charts you must be very careful because people will not be able to read them, and next you have the issue of how they can be too big for the printer, to Print. That is two major issues people need to be worried about 5-6 generations should work fine in many cases, after that you might really pushing it to not work.
