Steven Watrous said: Please allow edits to the place name on historical records. In the example in this link, the indexer entered the county of birth (Jefferson) as a city, and then added "Greene" as the county. Greene is not to be found on this image. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/619...

This is necessary to make searches possible- e.g. if you want to search only certain countries or states- especially for a common place liked Jefferson.

This process often goes wrong when there is more than one place with the same name, as appears to have happened here.

FS may or may not be able to correct this. If this index was copied from a partner website, it will not be possible (but if I as a non-Latter Day Saint at a home computer could view the image that seems unlikely). There are other technical barriers that they are still working on. I believe it has been announced that editing place names will become possible during 2020.
