Date format for "latest changes"

FYI
I raised this matter OVER 2 Years ago now ...
FAULT/FLAW: Appearance/Display of DATES when Records have been made has all of a sudden CHANGED from "dd MMMM yyyy" to "MMM dd, yyyy". NO!?
https://getsatisfaction.com/familysea...
The SILENCE from "FamilySearch" has been DEAFENING ...

Tom Huber said: Not that long ago, the standard dd mmm yyyy was changed to spell out the entire month in the date. This has not been fully implemented across all sections of the system, so I suspect that eventually, dates will show in a standard / across the board manner, dependent, of course upon the selected language for the user.
Given that aside from the campaigns and some of the resources that those take away from the most important aspects of the site, I suspect it will be awhile before we see a standard introduced.
Of course, there is also a strong indication that no "standards" manual of any kind, which would spell out presentation of all elements, including dates, has not been, is not now, and likely will never be used. That means that we will continue to see this aberrant and inconsistent information displayed.0 -

This was was a inexplicably sudden "Change" in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch", NOTHING to do with 'Languages'; and/or, 'Metadata'.
WHY did such an inexplicably sudden "Change" occur in "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch", in the first place?
WHY was there NO response from any "Official 'FamilySearch' Representative" to my post of OVER 2 Years ago?
WHY are we STUCK with the "American" Standard Date format; as opposed to, the "International" Standard Date Format, that was PREVIOUSLY there?
( I though that "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" was INTERNATIONAL in nature! )
We just want it changed BACK to what it was - it cannot be that difficult.

joe martel said: I just checked with a couple languages and the date shown in the changelog is localized to the selected language of the user. So English views the date metadata as December 30, 2019.
I guess the code be written to display the date in each of the various country formats, which would require knowing both the language and country of the user.
It could be displayed in the ISO standard YYYY-MM-DD, but that is ambiguous. So the view of the date is not using that standardizing. And most users don't know the date standards.
So for English speaking users the current view can be unambiguously interpreted.0 -
David Newton said: No the ISO date standard is NOT ambiguous. That's one of the main points of it. It's you Americans who insist on having a non-standard date format.
BTW your localisation for English is also wrong. The correct way of showing the date for the vast majority of English speakers is 30 December 2019. UK. Ireland. Australia. New Zealand. South Africa. Canada. India. All English second language speakers.
Can't say I'm particularly fussed about the order, but to say that it's an English language localisation is also incorrect.0 -

I DO NOT know WHY that you CONSIDER the LOCALISED" 'Date' STANDARD for ALL "English" speaking countries as that of the 'Americanised' one of ''Mmmm dd, YYYY".
Certainly, NOT from where I come from, which is (generally) "dd Mmmm YYYY".
Anyway, despite that ...
From a non-technical (ie. ISO; and, Metadata) view ...
The 'Date' Format that appeared (eg. on the, "Person/Details" page/screen; and, "ChangeLog" page/screen) BEFORE "December 2018" was that of the "International" 'Date' Format, that being, "dd Mmmm YYYY".
Then, for whatever reason, the 'Date' Format that appeared (eg. on the, "Person/Details" page/screen; and, "ChangeLog" page/screen) AFTER "December 2018" became that of the "American" 'Date' Format, that being, "Mmmm dd, YYYY".
I am sorry; and, I do not care for the technical details of WHY such happened ...
Please JUST "Change" the 'Date' Format BACK to the way that it was/appeared (eg. on the, "Person/Details" page/screen; and, "ChangeLog" page/screen - and, whatever other pages/screens were affected) BEFORE "December 2018" to that of the "International" 'Date' Format, that being, "dd Mmmm YYYY".
I queried this "Change", when it happened, in a post OVER a year ago (back on "8 December 2018"); and, again, resurrected that post OVER 3 Months ago (back on "2 October 2019", last year) ... to no avail ... NO response from "FamilySearch" ...
As already indicated:
FAULT/FLAW: Appearance/Display of DATES when Records have been made has all of a sudden CHANGED from "dd MMMM yyyy" to "MMM dd, yyyy". NO!?
https://getsatisfaction.com/familysea...
"Family Tree" and "FamilySearch" is VERY "International" now, so I thought ...

Tom Huber said: Good points.
I really don't care as long as I can read whatever date is being displayed.
Consistency is not something that FamilySearch excels at, so I'm not surprised that others would note this problem and bring it up.
Until FamilySearch ever decides to issue and/or adhere (to an existing) standards guide for the site, we will continue to see this kind of problem.0 -

Any consideration being given to the 'Date' Format that now appears on the, (1) "Person/Details" page/screen; and, (2) "ChangeLog" page/screen, REVERTING "Back" to the more universally accepted "International" 'Date' Format of "dd Mmmm YYYY"?
'Thank You' in advance.
