Did the font on the pages of Family Search recently change? Any way to change it back?

TracyBauman said: Yes, Safari. As far as OS, it’s Mojave 10.14.0

Juli said: It's something on your computer: the fixed-width (typewriter-style) font indicates that your system has somehow lost the font that the site normally uses. I don't know how to fix this on a Mac.0

TracyBauman said: My Safari version says 12.0 I think I might have this problem because I just did an update. It has been fine the past 18 months and the font just changed in the last week. Not a critical issue, just a bit harder to read.0

Maura Coleen Walker said: Here's an article I found on Stack Overflow - https://stackoverflow.com/questions/5... . I don't have Mojave on my Mac yet, so I don't know if it works.
Let me know if it does work. (I pasted the instructions from the link below as well.)
Easy fix:
Open Safari Preferences
Go to tab "Websites"
Under General on the left side click "Content Blockers"
Then turn OFF content blocker for the website you are browsing.
This fixed the issue for me.0 -

Gordon Collett said: I did some searching around and found one discussion about font display problems in Safari. The conclusion of the discussion as far as fixing this is to do the following:
1) Launch the application Font Book. (This is an macOS operating system application that is always installed for you. I've never paid it any mind before.)
2) In the main menu bar, under File, choose Restore Standard Fonts.
I cannot vouch in any way for what this will do but people claimed it fixed things nicely. The routine says that it removes any fonts that do not come as part of the system software. I assume that means that if you have installed any programs that need fonts that are not part of Mojave macOS, you will have to reinstall those fonts later.
(Tracy, you may want to post a screen shot of what you are seeing just to make sure that what you are seeing is not actually the standard appearance of FamilySearch in Safari and the update removed a preference you used to have in place to make it look better.)

By the way, I am running macOS 10.14 with Safari 12.0 and have not noticed any changes in font appearance. So it is either something with your setup or I am just not very observant.0 -

Alene Harrison said: I am using Chrome, not Safari, so I am still up a creek without a paddle. Do you have any suggestions for fixing this problem on an Asus laptop running Chrome?0

Gordon Collett said: I'm sorry, but I don't use Chrome except for occasional experimenting and I only use Windows at work and am not familiar enough with it. I've tried searching for how to repair corrupted fonts either for Chrome or for Windows and can't find any information. But that is what has happened. Somehow you have either lost system fonts or a setting is overriding the default fonts requested by the web pages and substituting a strange font. If you have not updated Windows recently, do so might solve things. It is also possible that deleting Chrome completely and reinstalling it will fix any strange Chrome settings that are wrecking the display.0

Tom Huber said: I agree with Gordon. If you have experienced a recent problem, then something is likely going on with your computer's operating system and/or the browser you are using.
Microsoft recently discontinued updating Windows 7, which a lot of us use, so I switched to a new Windows 10 laptop computer.
But, a Windows 10 update from last May did cause some font problems. See https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w... for details and also the fix for the problem. However, if you are not comfortable with your computer, then it is possible that you will need to get an experienced computer expert to help you.0 -
