Please allow us to change the "Spouse" label in Descendancy View.

In other words, FamilySearch is indicating that a woman or man who has never married is a spouse, when that is not true. "Biological Parent" is preferable to "Spouse". Ideally, the user should be able to replace the default "Spouse"(as shown in Descendancy View) with any label, such as "Ex-wife", "2nd wife", "Girlfriend", "Childhood Sweetheart", "Little Johnny's Mom", etc.

I have always assumed it would be too difficult to program this feature so the wording could be made to disappear if it was inappropriate to circumstances.
I guess this should be possible, but we would also have to be able to make it (Add Spouse) "reappear" if we discovered it was required, after all. For example, if the person we had recorded as dying in childhood turned out to be someone else (of similar identity) and they did live to adulthood and married.
Providing the feature you are requesting (or something similar) would be fairly straightforward to implement, I agree it would be a good idea.0 -
Paul said: Two points, after thinking about what you are saying in more detail. Firstly, I don't see where the individual is actually being labelled as a "Spouse" anywhere. Secondly, in "Decendancy view" the option to "Add Spouse" does not even appear. (It does in Landscape, however.)
Please add a screenshot if I am missing something. (Being invited to add a spouse does not mean the prime person was a spouse - except by suggestion!)0
