Lynne VanWagenen said: Is you question why the Help Center doesn't have an icon for Search Historical Images? It does. It's labelled simply Search.
If you enter the search terms, "search historical records" in the search field, you'll also find several articles and lessons on the topic.0 -
Elizabeth (Betty) Margaret Walling said: No, that was not my question. I asked why this excellent, new HELP CENTER article, titled "Search Help - Provides step-by-step instructions for searching Historical Records", does not contain a section about Search Historical Images.
If you look at that article you will see what I mean.0 -

Juli said: I can't verify this because FS never puts a date on help articles, but I suspect the one in question doesn't cover Images because it predates that function.0

I pointed out in another topic "Obsolete and therefore confusing page Help Center/Search/Search Help/Search Family History Books " dated July 10, 2020 https://getsatisfaction.com/familysea...
that "If you go to Help Center/Search the FIRST item to appear is "Search Help"
"Provides step-by-step instructions for searching Historical Records". "
I then focused on a sub link "Search Family History Books " This post got NO response from FamilySearch (or anyone else) and the page has not been changed in any way.
I can therefore only assume that the Help article which advises it is "Introduction to Family History Student Manual" Chapter 6: Computers and Family History Research is not considered to be a "current " article which should be updated. Given its current position as top of the Help Center/Search, perhaps now that it is out of date in at least two ways, in that it does not mention Searching Historical Images, and the section "Search Family History Books" is incorrect, I suggest that this page be UPDATED.0 -

There may be a blog entry for this new feature, but it will likely not be available in any on-line material, unless it is found in the approved training guide -- The Family History Guide (http://thefhguide.com/)
To be honest, any "official" documentation goes through an approval process and that can take a very long time. The changes made to FamilySearch have come fast and furious with several new feature being introduced in 2020 alone. The "article" isn't an article, but a page in FamilySearch and it is not current to all of the search features, which now include digitized (film) Images.
About the only training material that shows up are blog articles that introduce a new feature and provide some information about it. Beyond that, there isn't much to go on.
For the most part, searching images is quite intuitive, but the big thing to remember is that it isn't arranged by the names of the people in the image. These are digitized images from a film. It may or may not be indexed, but allows one to search film images that deal with a location, for instance.0 -
