Paul said: I just checked to see to whom each of these records relates and found this is not possible. I checked the General Register Office index and this shows the following:
BULMER, ANTHONY Age at death - 4
GRO Reference: 1849 M Quarter in SUNDERLAND UNION Volume 24 Page 243
BULMER, ANTHONY Age at death - 51
GRO Reference: 1849 M Quarter in SUNDERLAND UNION Volume 24 Page 241
Without the page numbers the FamilySearch sources are of no use in determining which source I should attach to the respective IDs.
See https://www.familysearch.org/search/r... Opening each of the records shows the "missing page number" problem.

Paul said: Thanks, Juli. Didn't look too deeply, did I? Is this how the information is now generally presented - i.e. "hidden" on the "next level down"?
Regardless, can now attach to relevant IDs. Thanks again.0 -
Juli said: It does seem to be a style at FS: why show information if you can hide it under layer upon layer of collapsed displays? (The Communities forum being a prime example.)0

Adrian Bruce said: Yes - see also https://getsatisfaction.com/familysea... - despite the thread name, Stewart Millar also found the page number issue on DCs.
To quote my response there:
Genealogical Information is presented on the left side - as per your screen shot. The document information is just citation stuff, plumbing data if you like. And yet here, a vital component for certificates of this date, has been shunted over there.
Please FamilySearch, bring it back where people can see it!

Paul said: I knew I'd seen a similar thread, so thanks for the link, Adrian. The examples (including screenshots) are so similar. Doesn't hurt to emphasise a point, though.
This type of problem seems to occur across other record types, too - including E&W census, I believe. Having to open / close fixed (modal?, I always forget the term) windows to view details that could appear on the search page is particularly annoying, too.
Please don't bury information (under further layers) unnecessarily, FamilySearch!0 -
