Critical Error: Activities - Record My Story - Typing in a Story

Gordon Collett said: As a fun project this afternoon, I had my two youngest daughters who have not done much in FamilySearch other than print ordinance cards sit down and type in a Memory. I had them go to Activities then Record My Story. Neither wanted to do a voice recording, so I had them use Type My Response.
After entering the title, typing in a short story, then clicking Save, everything vanished without saving.
They were rather discouraged.
Going into Memories and using the Create Story button there, the first thing that happened was that the user agreement box popped up that one has to click in the acknowledgement checkbox then click the button to close that box. They then had to click on the Create Story button again.
As I test, after putting in the story using that route, I went back to the Record My Story activity and put in a test title and a couple of words for a story. This time it saved just fine.
I am concerned that the Record My Story section, at least under the Type My Response section, does not properly handle the user agreement pop up for someone who has never entered a Memory before and so won't save.
Please try to confirm this error and fix it. Brand new users being introduced to FamilySearch through the Record My Story Activity will not be happy with this.

Tom Huber said: I couldn't force it to not save, but then I already had a couple of stories in the system. It will take someone who, when they go through the process, does not already have any stories in the system.0

Beth Ann Wiseman said: I was unable to reproduce this error. I created a new public account for familysearch, went to Activities, and Record My Story, and then chose "Create Your own". I entered a title and short response and hit save. I saw a spinning circle, then the screen cleared and the story disappeared. The story was in saved in my gallery.
If you can give me exact steps to reproduce, I can pass it to the engineering team.0 -
Tom Huber said: Beth Ann, thanks for joining this discussion.
In my case, after I saved the story, it was displayed on the My Stories page.
I believe this is what the issue was -- that the story disappears and is not displayed on the My Stories page immediate following the save.
I just verified this is what happens with my system (Chrome on Windows 10) having existing stories in the system.
It appears that in your experience, the story disappears and the My Stories page does not appear, even though the the story is saved in the user Gallery.0 -
Randy Hoffman said: My son used it to save an audio story for the first time on Sunday and it worked fine.
I'm trying to reproduce this as well and haven't been able to.0 -
Gordon Collett said: Thanks for testing this out. Maybe it was just a temporary glitch in communicating with the web site. I hope so.0

Tom Huber said: I'm not so sure. From what Beth Ann wrote, it appears that the story did disappear, but that the system did not go to the "My Stories" page if there were no previous stories recorded. I'm also not sure if this impacts the audio stories, possibly on a written (first time) story. Also, if the problem is from only one of the many choices for a response.0
