Family or ward site for temple work

Is this being worked on? It would be a great addition!

Ron wants to have family circles where the head of house of the circle invites a person in and that person accepts that invite. So far that has not happened. Elder Cooke FSFT Missionary.0

I don’t see that this would allow access to living people’s information, anymore than we see now for who has reserved temple work - just a user name with the option to message. It would just be a family (or ward) area where I could, register for the lack of a better word, my deceased ancestors temple work for others in my family or ward to do, rather than having to print and reprint and reprint and mail physical cards. Unlike sharing a name with someone, the names would remain in my temple list so I can monitor progress.
The ward site (or stake) would just be an electronic version of the drawers that were recently discontinued in the temples. A way for people to more closely monitor their ancestors work, and (usually) get the names done faster than releasing them to the temple system. I know most people would rather do the names for someone they know if they don’t have their own rather than pick up a temple name. It makes the experience more personal.
Ward sites could be set up to access only if your membership is in that ward, and I picture family sites being invitation only with an administrator (whoever is putting the names in), with the ability to send an invite, or for someone to request access. But I’m not a programmer, so I have no idea what that would entail.
It would also be nice if the names others reserved in those groups expired within the same 3 months like those that ordinances ready gives you.
That’s what I envisioned when I heard Ron mention the possibility. It seems that it would be very useful for a lot of people.0 -
Tom Huber said: I haven't heard that there is consideration being given to joining a ward/branch group that shares temple names with those in the group. That doesn't mean that it isn't being considered and because of the new movement away from having kiosks or drawers in the temples for wards/branches, it may be something we see in the near future.
However, this is a decision that has to come to FamilySearch from the Temple Department, so I don't know if FamilySearch can actually implement this idea without instructions from the Temple Department.
You may want to speak to your Temple Presidency about this idea to see if they are aware of anything concerning this idea.0 -

Might as well wait until Feb 26 when Ron Tanner speak at Rootstech 8 am and 9:30 am. about the changes coming to Family Tree. (I will be there.)0 -
Tom Huber said: W David, I didn't say that the Temple Presidency would do anything with this idea, only that they may know something about it. But yes, we should probably wait for Ron's address (hopefully he'll post it on his Facebook account) at RootsTech.0
