My children would like to get involved but they have to start with living people and that means putting in all their information. If our accounts could be linked somehow then they would not have to do that.

Juli said: They don't need to put in all of their information. Profiles for living people should be basic placeholders: just enough information for the person who entered it to know who it is. (Yes, "Mom" and "Dad" is plenty.) The details should be strictly offline.1

Cindy Hecker said: FamilyTree is a shared collaborative tree. Living is kept private so simply have your child add themselves, you (a simple name and year of birth is all I add for living placeholders), and any others to reach the shared deceased relative. I find it helpful to write down that deceased person ID number on my tree and then add that person using the ID and not their name on my child's tree.1

For now, if you are a Latter-day Saint, you could add your children into your Consultant Planner ("Helper Resources" at the bottom of the help menu) if you have their full birth date and Helper# (which for Latter-day Saints is the last 5 digits of their Membership Record Number, else they can look up their helper# up for you under their settings).
Then you could copy in sufficient living data you had put into your tree for your living connections, then hook the oldest living person with the most recent (and closest-connected) deceased persons, using PIDs showing up in your own tree.
Unfortunately to simply do copy-&-paste between your account their account, you would need to use separate browser types, like Firefox for your account, and Chrome for your children's account.0 -

FamilySearch has limited resources. Even though this has been around for a number of years, we are just now getting something that was requested a decade ago and at this point, on a very limited basis: index corrections.
I guess the key is patience for something like this.0 -

@tayyabbarakzai This is being worked on. Please watch the video from RootsTech "What's New at FamilySearch in 2023" at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwqxwC1eIDg. This new feature is discussed about 33 minutes into the video.
