Donald Ross Brantley said: It would be wonderful if we could see the relationship detailed the way Ancestry does. Saying something like " Your first cousin, three times removed" as well as the common ancestor. Thanks so much for all you do, it is so appreciated.

Firstly, "Welcome" to this "FamilySearch" ( "GetStaisfaction" ) 'Feedback' Forum.

Secondly, "Official 'FamilySearch' Representatives", do monitor; and, sometimes, participate in, this Forum.

Thirdly, I am just another User/Patron, just like yourself (and, happen to be a Member of the Church).

Many Users/Patrons who regularly participate in this Forum who have a great deal of knowledge and experience with "FamilySearch", like to assist/help other Users/Patrons like yourself.

Finally, I cannot comment on how a Users/Patrons "Relationship" is 'Detailed' in "Ancestry.com"; as, I do not really use it except for search its records.

    But ...
    That said ...

The "Web" version ( ie. for Computers ) of "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch" does show a pictorial "Pedigree" how you are related to a 'Deceased" individual/person; provided, there is a direct connection through the generations - the only thing missing is the "Title" (ie. Name) of the relationship (eg. "Your first cousin, three times removed").

    ie. "View My Relationship"

Whereas, the "Mobile" version ( ie. for Mobile Phones and Tablets ) of "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch", not only, shows a pictorial "Pedigree" how you are related to a 'Deceased" individual/person; provided, there is a direct connection through the generations; but, also provides the "Title" (ie. Name) of the relationship (eg. "Your first cousin, three times removed").

The reason that the "Web" version does not provide the "Title" (ie. Name) of the relationship (eg. "Your first cousin, three times removed") is that the "Web" version supports a number of "Languages"; and, the "Translation" of some of those "Titles" (ie. Names) from 'English' to some of the supported "Languages" is a problem/issue. That problem/issue has been the reason that those "Titles" (ie. Names) have NOT appeared on the "Web" version to-date.

Whereas, the "Mobile" version originally only supported the 'English' "Language"; and, as such, those "Titles" (ie. Names) of the relationship (eg. "Your first cousin, three times removed") were INCLUDED in the "Mobile" version.

    Now ...

We have been advised by "Official 'FamilySearch' Representatives" that the "Web" version WILL, in the near future, provide those "Titles" (ie. Names) of the relationship (eg. "Your first cousin, three times removed"); but, principally, only in the 'English' "Language" initially - perhaps, other "Language" versions of those those "Titles" (ie. Names) of the relationship MAY follow, in due course, once any problems/issues are worked out.

    I hope that helps.

Tom Huber said: At the present time, a user can see their relationship to another user if both have a new feature in their FamilySearch.org settings enabled. The details of the setting, where it is found, and how it works can be found in the https://getsatisfaction.com/familysea... discussion. What is important is that the text you want for "View My Relationship" is shown in the relationship chart that can be display if both you and the other user have the feature activated. That leads me to believe that at some near-future point, we will also see it for those that are working with the English language.

Thanks to Brett for his response in this discussion and also starting that other discussion.
