It seems new.familysearch.org may be for that, based on its discussions and based on the fact that there is no Selected Product called "familysearch.org."
However, there's a catch. First, new.familysearch.org isn't a thing anymore. It's been gone a long time. Second, the description of the Selected Product "new.familysearch.org" says it's about "a beta project that is only available to LDS Church members" that will soon be made available to the public. That, again, was true many moons ago, but not today. Its discussions, meanwhile, are about new FS features, so that's confusing. This conflict raises the question whether this part of GetSat is about the new.familysearch.org beta of 9 years ago or the current changes to the familysearch.org site today? This experience seems to need some clarification.
Is there some reason I have not imagined why this issue has persisted? For instance, does GetSatisfaction prevent admins from editing a topic's title and description? Is there some other reason this topic's title and description does not or should not match its current conversations? Should a new Selected Product be created about familysearch.org that is separate from the one about new.familysearch.org? Should the one about new.familysearch.org be archived since its conversations are no longer about the limited-release beta of 9 years ago?
I'm just confused, and want to be able to refer customers from other FamilySearch properties to a Selected Product here where they can discuss the FS home page or FamilySearch.org experience in general. I want to give them a choice that is intuitive, but don't see one here because the title and description of this Selected Product don't seem to match its current conversations.

Is this what you are talking about:
If this is what you are talking about; then, 'Yes', some of the "RELATED PRODUCT / SERVICE" in the "FamilySearch" "GetSatisfaction" 'Feedback' Forum are OUTDATED; as, that has NOT been updated for MANY Years.
Most of the 'lowly' regular User/Patrons participants in this Forum are aware of that; and, simply disregard.
Most Users/Patrons in this Forum, even though they are not aware of that, simply disregard that anyway - they 'Tick' (ie. Check) nothing, just leave it "Blank".
One of its uses is simply to put posts into one of the "Categories" under the "Products & Services" to show the "Number" of posts in that "Category"; and, also to allow Users/Patrons to access such "Categories" quickly and easily.
If I was you, I would not concern myself about it; especially, the "RELATED PRODUCT / SERVICE" of "New.FamilySearch", that is 'done and dusted'; as, you are well aware.
Just my thoughts.
I hope this helps.

GetSatisfaction is a site that FamilySearch makes use of in place of having to maintain its own software for discussion forums. As it is, there is a community.familysearch.org site, but for right now, it needs some serious work, which is beside the point.
At one time, new.FamilySearch.org was a product. It has been retired, but its stats in this discussion forum have not been.
Personally, I don't find the categories useful, but it is entirely possible that there is someone somewhere that is doing a study on the forum and its use -- possibly a student at a Church school.0 -

You write: "The site that we are using is not a site under the control of the Church."
Well, this is partly true but - as you know - the FamilySearch section is moderated by FamilySearch employees. Also - from looking at other GetSatisfaction websites - it appears the format can be customised to suit the needs of individual organisations.
I am sure some of the out of date content on the GetSat FamilySearch site could be taken down, either by FamilySearch or (if it doesn't have editing rights) by FS requesting GetSatisfaction to do so. Both Recent Updates (including "recent" items 9 years old - see https://getsatisfaction.com/familysea...) and Products and Services (https://getsatisfaction.com/familysea...) need some attention. After all, if Ron Tanner's Code of Conduct post can be added to the former, surely it is just as easy to remove items that are no longer of any relevance - e.g. relating to new.familysearch.org.0 -

Who, in FamilySearch, would have the time to "to remove items that are no longer of any relevance - e.g. relating to new.familysearch.org."?
As it is, all of the discussion threads, we are told, are read by FamilySearch personnel. But as far as responses go, that takes time and time most of the folks at FS do not have for responding to needs of this nature.
Perhaps the best approach is simply remove the option to select newFamilySearch as an option when posting a new (or current) discussion to this forum.0
