Mike said: I like Family search and use it frequently; however, I do NOT need spam/junk emails from Family search. For example I received an email telling me you've updated my ancestor's page and as near as I can tell I am NOT related to the person you emailed me about. If it does NOT pertain to me personally, please don't send me this sort of spam!!!! FamilySearch.org
And, when I click on the the link to 'View my relationship'/see how I'm related, please take me to where I expect to go - and be able to see some real information.!!!!
thank you,
Mike Roan

Firstly, "Welcome" to this "FamilySearch" ( "GetStaisfaction" ) 'Feedback' Forum.
Secondly, "Official 'FamilySearch' Representatives", do monitor; and, sometimes, participate in, this Forum.
Thirdly, I am just another User/Patron, just like yourself (and, happen to be a Member of the Church).
Many Users/Patrons who regularly participate in this Forum who have a great deal of knowledge and experience with "FamilySearch", like to assist/help other Users/Patrons like yourself.
Finally, this post is 41⁄2 years old; and, yours is the first and only "Reply"/"Comment" since this post was raised.
Things have "Changed" considerably in "FamilySearch" in those 41⁄2 years, can you please explain what your particular problem/issue is, so that we might get some insight into your "Reply" - please be as specific as possible.
'Thank You' in advance.

lisa ffsher said: I was looking for my great grandmothers family. Recently received and email from Family Search listing her parents and siblings by name. I found 2 of her children’s death certificates and the last name is incorrect meaning it can’t be my family. Her name is Sallie Garner and I found out her maiden name is Fisher but thy linked her with Garner but she married a garner.how could her parents last name be Garner when her maiden name is Fisher?0

Firstly, those "E-mails" from "FamilySearch" are NOT "Spam".
Secondly, those "E-mails" from "FamilySearch" are meant to help Users/Patrons with their Research (ie. Family History work); and, basically, are only going on with what is already recorded in the "System" (ie. Family Tree); and, associated to you.
In relation to your particular case:
Is her "Last Name" under the "Vitals" Section recorded as that of "Fisher"; or, is it that of "Garner"?
Under the "Other Information" Section, is there an "Alternate Name" with the "Last Name" as "Garner"; and, if there is, how is that designated, as a "Birth Name" or as a "Married Name"?
The reason that I ask these questions, is this all depends on how the "E-mail" you received was "Constructed"; and, hence, why you received the "E-mail".
These "E-mails" are ONLY, "Hints"; or, suggesting, to "Help" you, they may be 'right on the mark'; or, they may be 'way of the mark'.
These "E-mails" are ONLY a guide, they are NOT the ANSWERS.
If you DO NOT want such "Discovery" Notifications (E-mails), simply go to your "Settings" in "FamilySearch"; then, go to the "Notifications" 'Tab'; and, then, under the "E-mail Messages" section, just "Un-Tick"/"Un-Check" the one for "Discoveries About My Ancestors" being "Get personalized emails about your ancestors" - hopefully, you will no longer receive such "E-mails" from "FamilySearch".
I hope this helps.
Brett
ps: I do not know; but, it sounds like you got some help from that "E-mail".

Confusion is what Genealogy/Family History is all about.
Life was not meant to be easy - especially, when it comes to Genealogy/Family History.
It gives us something to do; and, keeps our minds occupied and active, later in life.
