Suggested Patron Option in cases of Disputes / Locked Records

Alexander Keith Barclay said: Quoting from the FS Help Article - "When we mark records as read only, it prevents collaboration. Consequently, we do not accept patron requests to mark a record as read only".
One remedy available to Patrons is to add a very pointed and clear NOTE in the COLLABORATE section along the following lines. (NB Other patrons of course, are quite unable to delete or edit such notes.)
Note Title "The information provided in this record is NOT correct "
Note Text " The following sources and facts clearly show that the information given on this person page is wrong and incorrect. (Then state the correct information and facts with supporting sources)
This procedure will not of course correct supposed errors in the display of pedigree lines. But any serious researcher will always look at the Individual's Notes in the Collaborate section

Tom Huber said: If the record is locked, then no notes or anything else can be added. I don't know if you are suggesting that the notes section be enabled on locked records or not, but for now, notes cannot be entered into a locked record.

Paul said: If possible to implement, I think this would be a really good idea. I looked at a couple of locked records some time ago that had errors on their pages. It is a shame comments can't be added to point-out the read-only detail is (probably) incorrect and to suggest alternative theories relating to events/vitals and other recorded details.0

Juli said: I have a note on the Famous Relative saying that his other two wives aren't entered because as far as I know they're still living. Didn't stop a guy with a Project (making sure all Nobel Prize winners had profiles) from adding said wives earlier this month. Obviously, he didn't read the note. (Luckily he did read the message I sent him.)
Especially since they were moved onto a tab that nobody ever uses, people don't read notes. Therefore, I'm not sure how much good it would do to be able to add them to locked profiles. (Also: if people could be gotten to use the feature, would there be a cap on the number of notes per profile? I can just imagine the proliferation of mostly-all-caps note titles going down the page as people argued....)0 -

But in most cases of dispute, the record is being repeatedly being changed back and forwards by different patrons. In this event I think a very pointed and clear Note is probably the way to go !0 -
Adrian Bruce said: If I recall correctly, we have discussed the possibility of one or two line warnings appearing at the top of a profile saying something like "Beware there are two couples named Fred & Freda Bloggs in Nantwich at this time"
The key is (a) to make the message short and snappy and (b) to put it in a place everyone sees (c.f. Juli's comments about reading the Notes etc. tab)0
