Reserve Ordinances that have been Shared with the Temple

I am a FamilySearch missionary who spends many hours requesting these ordinances for patrons who would really like to complete ordinances for an individual or family, but those ordinances have been shared with the temple. Because FamilySearch is such a wonderful app, it is now so easy for people to find and take their own family names to the temple. I am pretty certain, that in most cases, if we were allowed to reserve names shared with the temple, those ancestor's ordinances would be performed sooner than they will be, if those ancestors have to wait the 5 - 7 years for the temple to do them.
I, and several others, thought Roots Tech in Spring of 2019 announced that this would be available before the end of 2019. We were so excited! Is this still in the plan? The sooner the better Thanks for all you do!

That being said, my experience is that you can reserve some ordinances that have been shared with the temple. (Pull them back from the temple and reserve them yourself.)
It does not work with all of them. I don't know the details on which ones it does work for and which ones it does not.0 -

Tom Huber said: Larry,
Please keep in mind that you should only pull those temple-shared names that you plan to immediately take to the temple. Please do not pull them, just to add them to your own reserved list.0 -
Tom Huber said: The reason I suggest this is because the person who shared them with the temple, may have shared them to unshare later when they could go to the temple. I have done this myself.0

Larry Nuttall said: I agree totally. I only have names in my temple list that I can get done within 3 months. There are many others out there who are working on the same family lines. My goal is to have my ancestors get to the temple, not be in my list.0

Larry Nuttall said: That's true. The ones I would like to reserve, however, are specific ones on lines that I am working on. It is very unlikely for Ordinances Ready to just happen to give me the names I am looking for.0

Larry Nuttall said: I have seen this too. I believe what has happened in this case, is that someone received ordinances from Ordinances Ready, but did not complete them in the 90 day time frame. This article, "What happens when Ordinance Reservations Expire" explains why these ordinances can be reserved:
"The day after the expiration date, the names will be removed from your family names list.
The names will be shared with the temple. When viewed in Family Tree, the ordinances will show as green and shared with the temple. The name can be reserved by you or others as long as a temple has not yet begun the work."
Obviously the capability is there to allow all ordinances that have been shared with the temple to be reserved by others. If no one reserves them, then they will eventually be done by the temple.
To prevent someone from reserving them, just to sit in their temple list, I think the 90 day expiration date should be reapplied.
The whole point is to help our ancestors receive their ordinances as soon as possible.0 -
Larry Nuttall said: Remember that there are probably dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of other people related to these same ancestors (depending on how many generations back they are) who would also like to take these ancestors to the temple. The ancestors, of course, would like their work done as soon as possible.
If these ancestors are close relatives, then I suggest you simply reserve them, and get their work done in the 2 year time frame given you.0
