For example, I may wish to dismiss a boarder or a servant listed on a census record but keep other possible names while researching a family. Right now the entire source is either in or out.

Firstly, "Welcome" to this "FamilySearch" ( "GetStaisfaction" ) 'Feedback' Forum.

Secondly, "Official 'FamilySearch' Representatives", do monitor; and, sometimes, participate in, this Forum.

Thirdly, I am just another User/Patron, just like yourself (and, happen to be a Member of the Church).

Many Users/Patrons who regularly participate in this Forum who have a great deal of knowledge and experience with "FamilySearch", like to assist/help other Users/Patrons like yourself.

Finally, what a GREAT suggested enhancement.

    This is an EXCELLENT idea.

ps: But, I would suggest that such may NOT be so easy to "Code" (ie. Programme) for though.

Oh, I agree on this. It is the most troublesome in Census records as the author says and in obituaries which will often pick up the name of the funeral home or cemetery as a person or include the clergyman. sometimes it even picks up the name of the town as a persons name.

I little check box that would eliminate each individually would be fantastic.

    G'Day

Mine was the first & only Comment/Response to 'Eric's' suggested enhancement, way back in December 2019

Since then, following some practice with "Unfinished Attachments", I have realised that, such can ALREADY be easily achieved, all-be-it with some work.

    Here, let me explain ...

Attached ALL the RELEVANT Family members as appropriate - all good.

Now, here is were there is a little work ...

On the "Sources" 'Tab' for the principle individual/ person that you were working, "Dismiss" the "Unfinished Attachments" regarding the REMAINDER of the individuals/persons (eg. Boarders; Servants; etc).

Then, go to the "Sources" 'Tab' for the Family members of the principle individual/ person that you were working; and, do EAXCTLY the same, "Dismiss" the "Unfinished Attachments" regarding the REMAINDER of the individuals/persons (eg. Boarders; Servants; etc).

There ... all done ... NO more "Unfinished Attachments", for that "Source", for that Family.

Granted, it would be easier, to have a "Check Box" next to ALL those concerned on the "source", to EASILY "Dismiss" and EXCLUDE those that are NOT Family members (eg. Boarders; Servants; etc).

But, that said, until such is implemented, doing as I suggest, is a 'Work Around'; but, 'Yes', does take a little work and time; but, such is not insurmountable.

    Just my thoughts.

    I hope this helps.
