I wish there was a way to filter or separate topics in GetSat.

Paul said: It was suggested some years ago that there should be some sort of division of topics, but this came from an LDS church member. I remember commenting at the time that it was fine by me to keep these integrated with those that dealt with more general issues. I believe it is important for us "non LDS" to understand the issues that are important to LDS folks and how our inputs might (possibly) adversely affect their work.
In any case, the topic title would not always indicate whether the subject was of prime interest to those who are LDS. Unless words like "temple" and "ordinances" appear, I wonder how they could be divided.
No, I'm quite happy to retain an insight into the "religion-orientated" matters that are brought here. It doesn't take more than a few seconds for me to decide whether I want any involvement in a topic / thread, whatever the nature of its content.0 -
Paul said: Just having had a quick look at the recently raised topics, I see most ARE clear from the headings that they are of prime interest to LDS folks. But still no problem - just scroll past them if you have no interest in reading the contents.0

Juli said: My point is that today, I *can't* "just scroll past" the LDS topics, because it feels like there's nothing else showing. And some of them I only recognize because I've mistakenly opened them before.
I'm interested in genealogy, not comparative religions.0 -
Gordon Collett said: May I say I sympathize? The major update (or downgrade depending on your point of view and which posts you read) to one of the LDS-only sections of Family Tree has brought out as much outcry, pro and con, as the recent updatse to the Change Log and Merge sections. This has brought several people who have never posted her before onto the boards. I assume that things will follow the typical pattern. Bugs will be fixed, suggested improvements may or may not be incorporated, people will adjust and the board here will return to normal in a couple of days.
There is a tagging system here that I don't think anyone ever uses which would separate posts into different areas that people can then access through the actual starting page for this community here:
https://getsatisfaction.com/familysearch
over on the right hand side. Maybe that should be promoted more.0 -
Tom Huber said: That's true, Gordon. Most people do not tag the discussion to the proper area. I've sometimes opened a thread that deals with indexing and then tagged the discussion accordingly and closed the discussion.
Unfortunately, the list does not display the tagged discussion topics.
Juli's point is definitely something that should be addressed (if possible) for new discussions.
The communities on FamilySearch (not this feedback Get Sat forum) are a better solution, but the system if very clunky and hard to use, especially when all you want to do is to post some feedback on some aspect of the system.0 -
Adrian Bruce said: I really dislike the Community software and the resultant user interface. Not sure about categorisation over there because I only belong to the places community, so that might work better.
GetSat may well be a black-hole with an event horizon of only a couple of days, but the GetSat implementation appears to be compact compared to the sprawl of the community implementations.0 -
Juli said: Agree wholeheartedly on the Communities interface's shortcomings. I'm only on two (Places and Austria-Hungary) and can't ever be sure I didn't miss something. Everything (and I do mean everything) is hidden behind that asinine "more..." link, and it puts threads at the top even if the only new thing is that somebody (probably accidentally) hit a "like" link on it.0

Adrian Bruce said: The Communities UI does seem to wander drunkenly across the screen - and then sometimes doesn't. I've no idea what the wandering indentation means, so clearly it's failed in whatever purpose it had.
GetSat is much simpler in that respect - just Replies - all lined up, and Comments all lined up. Simpler and cleaner. Less is more.0
