Folders needed within the "People I'm Watching" list.

Lynne Stanley said: Is there any way to create folders within the "People I'm Watching" list? If not now, could you please put your programmers to work to create the ability for individual users to have folders within the list? The "Changes to People I'm Watching" is not enough.
I would like to create or have folders such as "data problems to be fixed"; "only needs E"; or "only needs SP or SS" , etc...
I have about 400 names on my Temple Reserved list and another 800+ names on my watch list. I would really appreciate the ability to quickly locate people on the Watch List to work on their data problems or to move them over to my Reserved list. As it is now, I have to click on each name on the Watch List, going through every name, searching, searching, searching.....It is very time consuming and frustrating ...Folders would be very helpful.
Sincerely,
Lyn

We all share an active interest in using the resources of this site and as users, we have various levels of knowledge and experience and do our best to help each other with concerns, issues, and/or questions.
The only purpose of the watch list is to let you know if someone has made a change to the person being watched. It does not serve any other purpose.
On your "home" page (reached when you first log in or when you click the FamilySearch logo in the upper left area of a page) there is a Recommended Tasks. That is where you will find people who have hints and/or needs to have vicarious temple ordinance(s) reserved for them.
Many of the pedigree views have the option of displaying data problem icons, as well as icons about vicarious temple work.
The icons for temple work is being revised. We don't know how that will impact the current views.0 -
Lynne Stanley said: Tom, Thank you for responding to my post. I'm familiar with the different features that you mentioned. They are all useful, but somewhat inadequate for the amount of people I am tracking. As I search for people who need temple ordinances done and I also come across people with data problems, I prefer to add them to the Watch List for one reason or another; Mostly because they have data problems that I want to work on at a later time or because I already have several names on my Reserved List. .
Over the last several months I have added several hundred names to my Watch List, mostly because the temples are closed and I have 100+ names already on my Reserved List. I have fixed many of the data problems. But it is time consuming to click on each name looking for which ones still have data issues.
My plan is to move people over to the Reserved List according to what ordinances they need. If I could sort these names into different folders all within the Watch List, then I could see when other users make changes and also quickly move them over to my Reserved List when I am ready to do so. I could simply go to the "only needs SP", or "only needs E" folder and reserve as many as I could do the ordinances in a timely manner. Leaving them on the Watch List for now also allows the opportunity for other living relatives to reserve these names.
I understand that the purpose of the watch list is to let you know if someone has made a change to the person being watched. But why not make the list sortable?
Even if the Watch List added people to it with the newest at the top of the list, similar to how the Reserve List does, with the option to alphabetize the list, that would be helpful.0 -
Tom Huber said: One thought went through my mind as I was reading your reply: Time to implement new features. It took FamilySearch ten years to get us a means to even start correcting index errors. Even after a year or so, it is not fully implemented.
I hope you aren't holding your breath, but a request of your nature, as nice as it would be (and several lists have been suggested over several years), the most we've seen is just the changes made by others to profiles that we are watching.
I'm not saying the idea is a bad one, it isn't. I would not mind seeing that myself because with the release of new indexes, there are certainly new hints showing up all the time for my ancestral lines.0 -
Lynne Stanley said: No, I'm not holding my breath. But I am hopefully.
I'd be happy if the list at least functioned similar to the Reserved List by add the newest names at the top instead of alphabetical. If both options were available, that would be helpful. .0 -
Tom Huber said: You are basically wanting the list to function differently than the purpose for which it was created.
The are a number of sorting options, all designed to help those watch or selecting their relatives to watch for changes made by others.
Yes, there is a definite need for more lists that users can define for their own purposes, but it should not modify the existing list or its purpose.0 -
W David Samuelsen said: That feature showing newest at top of reserved list, has been there for several years.
What I really want for Reservation List is
1. Alphabetized
2.Sorts by Printed and Temple Shares (a headache when you have to scroll constantly to get the ones to be done.
3. Lists by Omission of ordinances. (baptism/confirmation only, inititatory only, endownment only, spouse sealings only, child/parents only)0 -
Tom Huber said: What Lynne is asking for is a way to filter the Watch List. She wants features similar to the Temple Reservation Page, which can filter and sort by up to three columns.0

Lynne Stanley said: Tom, you stated "The are a number of sorting options..."
Could you please tell me about those options? I've only been using FamilySearch for a relatively short time. I'm sure there is much I need to learn.0 -
Tom Huber said: From most pages, select the Temple Tab (at the top of the page), and All Reserved.
This will bring up your temple list. There are three filters - Printed, Not Printed, and Shared. The All Reserved clears the selected filter. The Ordinances Ready is a Link that starts the Ordinances Ready feature.
There is also a Filter Field that works with the Name Column. The Filter field is a bit wonky and needs to be looked at by Family Search.
Finally, there is a Legend which explains the Colors used for the ordinances and what they mean.
There are four column headings. Three have column options within the scope of that column and one is fixed: the Sealing Names for the couple or parents. Couple Sealings are listed by themselves. The Sealing Column has no options.
The currently selected column option (defaults on opening the page) are displayed along with the "pick" triangle that opens the drop down list of column options.
If you click on the column option title, it will select the descending (the default) or ascending feature for that column.
The Name Column Options:
The Ordinance Column Options:
The Date Column Options:
Combining the Column Sort Order
In addition to selecting the ascending or descending order, you can select any combination of columns.
When you select a column, it changes the ascending or descending order, as expected.
First select the Column Option for each column and clicking on the pull-down arrow.
Next, while holding and continuing to hold the Shift key down, select the column sort order preference. You can select up to all of the columns. With the seconds selected sort order preference, a little number appears in front of the column option title.
There another wonky option and that is the Ordinance Column (the first is the name filter). This one has been this way for a very long time and I doubt that it will be resolved, but if you are used to it, then you can use the feature easily.
If you select an ordinance, such as Baptism like I did. You'll no… [truncated]0 -
Lynne Stanley said: Thank you. That must have taken quite a bit of time to compose your answer. Thanks for your efforts. Some of this I had figured out, some of it I didn't know yet.
Well, I'll be able to work within the Reserved List a bit more efficiently because of your help, if not the Watch List yet.0
