Jeff Wiseman said: Not to mention that none of those other tools even support "Warning notes", so that FS proprietary structure would have to be added to every other tool out there if they wanted to support this proprietary warning feature of FS.
And since they all have some form of general notes that they already support, and since warning notes are really redundant to general notes that could be used for warnings (especially in trees that belong to just one person, i.e., the owner of the tool or the account), it is unlikely that there would be any motivation for them to implement such a redundant feature.0 -

Adrian Bruce said: It's perfectly possible. It's just that it would require so much agreement, so much coding, so much changing of process, that it's as likely as me finding that the guy working down our chip-shop (fast-food) really is Elvis.
That's my interpretation...0 -
m said: I guess that is the answer to my question:
Warnings canNOT be added to any location on a page so that it will be seen by everyone using their cellphone, from Ancestry, from desktop genealogy program.
BUT Warnings CAN be added to any location on a page (and seen just by folks on FS website).0 -
Jeff Wiseman said: Yes, that is true.
I personally see it as more entropy being added to the notes system that has been implemented on FS and continues to deteriorate. So personally, if anything like this does go in, I would much prefer it being based on the existing Notes system with enhancements added to allow the displaying of those specific notes as warnings.
Then any of the existing systems out there could easily import those notes through the standard channels and they would at least be visible to everyone on those other platforms since those capabilities are ALREADY THERE.
But FS has to stop diluting the notes feature with alternatives that just reduce their effectivity. As it is, anything that is in a discussion that I want on my PC, I have to clone it and put it into a note in order to consistently maintain it. I've been doing that for years.0 -
