Because the cloud is such a highly used tool today and because the church itself is trying to move to be more cloud-based,
An app improvement feature would be to allow you to add documents that have been saved to a OneDrive or Google Drive. A lot of people have access to their cloud platforms straight from their phones.
In the case of an iPhone, if you allow the FamilySearch app to access the Files app, one could route to their phone storage, iCloud Drive, OneDrive, or Google Drive.
Hope this helps or is put in the works for a future update. It would majorly improve the ease and experience of uploading files especially since there are apps, such as Google Lens that allow you to scan documents straight from your phone to your cloud storage.

A lot depends upon the capabilities of any app and whether or not accessing the cloud is dependent upon another app in the mobile device.
I recently wanted to download some shows from a streaming app to my ipad, but the ipad did not set up the shows correctly. The most I can currently do is just see the name of the shows on a list, but I cannot delete them, move them to my iCloud drive storage, or anything else. I've tried everything, including the Files app, but the iOS app didn't place the entries where I could see them with Apple's "files" app.
This is a problem that Apple may have to resolve and when the local Apple store reopens (hopefully in the near future, but it serves the Chicago area), I hope to visit and get the problem resolved.0
