Richard L. Tolman said: Since the Library is now closed for the foreseeable future, many sources are unavailable to researchers. If the Library still has a pool of volunteers, why not make them available to scan pages of books to be emailed to patrons on request. No searches; the complete reference would have to be made available. A reasonable additional copying fee could be available to the volunteer. R. Tolman

A van Helsdingen said: There has been a similar situation with historical records on the FamilySearch website viewable only at FHCs and affiliate libraries. In that case, FS has decided not to introduce a temporary fix (by negotiating with record owners for more relaxed restrictions for a few weeks). Based on that track record, I wouldn't expect FS to make books at the FHL viewable while it's closed. We will have to wait for the FHL, FHCs and Affiliate Libraries to gradually open again. In some parts of the world this has began- in my home town the Affiliate Libraries have re-opened.0

Due to contractual obligations, FamilySearch cannot offer expanded access to historical records that are restricted to family history centers and affiliate libraries, despite the temporary closure of these facilities. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by COVID-19 precautionary measures.
Empasis mine.
In the meantime, we encourage you to explore the vast record collections that are available on FamilySearch. Millions of new indexed records and images are added weekly. And if you haven’t used our new Explore Historical Images tools, you might be surprised at the potential discoveries you can make in our growing unindexed image collections. We appreciate your patience, loyalty, and support.0
