"Please perform temple ordinances in the correct sequence. Perform individual ordinances before sealings. The FamilySearch Family Tree website does not clear ordinances if prerequisite ordinances have not been cleared or performed."

HOWEVER the new "Ordinances Ready" feature allows me to print cards for ordinances that can be done out of order!!! It allows me to print cards for sealings when one of the parents has not yet had their Endowment. It also does the same for sealings to spouses. (It also may create the same problem with Baptisms/Initiatories and Endowments

There needs to at least be a CLEARLY READABLE NOTICE attached to the sealing sections of the "ordinances ready' feature that notifies folks to look to see if a sealing can actually be done (in the correct order)

This new feature encourages people to do ordinances, but it goes against basic Church policy that the be done in order!!!

You have always been able to print Sealing to Spouse cards separate from the individual ordinances. And they have always been able to be done regardless of the individual ordinances being completed.

And the sealing to parent ordinance belongs to the child - what is why it is printed on the child's card.

If you can control the other ordinances, then do them first.

Amy Archibald said: This is because originally James' parents were John Strange and Elizabeth Franklin (LCR1-PGL). On the 28 February 2015 you disconnected that relationship and added a new mother named Eliza Webb to James and all his siblings. So there was a sealing to parent for James with father John Strange and mother Elizabeth Franklin on 14 December 2006. Since this appears to now not be correct, there is showing an open sealing to parent needed for James and all his siblings to John Strange and Eliza Webb.

You shared James' SP with the temple system on 8 August 2017.

Ordinance Ready is performing correctly. If you selected a SP ordinance it will first look at your temple reservation list and then with any names that you have shared with the temple system. You did share this SP ordinance with the temple system back in August 2017.

It is showing you that it still needs to be completed for James with parents John and Eliza. If you go to the detail page for James and select the Ordinance tab, you will see the SP that you shared with the temple system in 2017 is still open and needing to be completed with correct parents.

Regarding the opening question of the tread. Is this something that will be changed with "Ordinance Ready". It would be really nice if it didn't allow ordinances to be recommended when doing so would make them out of order.

The correct sequence of ordinances is as follows:

    • Baptism.
    • Confirmation.
    • Initiatory.
    • Endowment.
    • Sealing of a husband and wife and sealing of children to parents (if possible). Whenever possible, parents should be sealed to each other before the children are sealed to the parents.

I just tried to use Ordinance Ready to print off Sealing to Parent cards. I couldn't print any of them because other work needed to be done first, but if I try to use Ordinance Ready again, it brings up the same 10 names until the status changes on them. You would think that this would be something that could be programmed to avoid.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]

    Just is passing ...

Just so that you are aware ...

Here is a reference, specifically about "OrdinancesReay", regarding "Sealing" to either, Parent; &/or, Spouse ...

    "Knowledge Article", in 'FamilySearch':

How do I find family names for the temple with Ordinances Ready?

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-find-family-names-for-the-temple-with-ordinances-ready

It also states, among other things:

    Quote

    ------------------

    Before you start

    ...

    Notes:

    ...

    • Ordinances Ready does not determine if pre-requisite ordinances have been completed when sealing-to-spouse ordinances are requested. Please ensure that baptism, initiatory and endowment have been completed for each individual before proceeding with a sealing ordinance.

    ------------------

I know that this might not give you comfort and address your concerns; but, I hope that this gives you some, insight; and, more perspective.
