Go back to the old(last week) Family Search person page

Tyler Peterson said: That's a common complaint with the new layout and we are evaluating our options. Right now the sources are shown in their own tab, and when editing a conclusion they have been tagged to.
I'm sorry it has made your work harder. In the meantime, others have reported that opening up the sources in its own window and putting the details view in its own next to it makes it easier to verify information from sources.
(Please excuse the copied reply to this common issue.)0 -
David Wright said: I am not an employee, but a user, and I personally like the sources on the separate tab. When the Person page gets long (because of many children/spouses or siblings), the sources are too far down the page. I like to just click on the Sources tab, and back on the Details tab, rather than scrolling up and down. It also seems like overall, the page may be loading faster.0

Sarah Jackson said: I like the sources on the same page as the details so that I can check and change the vitals and other information without flipping back and forth.
Of course I can have several tabs open at the same time and manage them like I always do, but it's another tab. I just don't like the format, but I can see some benefits too. I am always hoping for better changes, so it is different.0 -
Ben Strubl said: I can't say or judge how some researchers do their research. I for one strongly feel not just working a descendants linage but I also try to contribute to a spouse at least 2 generations of both sides of the extended family. This could sometime have many tabs as the work progresses.0

Juli said: I've been trying various methods of getting the new format to fit my workflow, and there are problems with all of them. Working on lines with lots of people with the same name (none of them with middle names!) gets impossibly confusing in multiple browser tabs or windows; I can never be absolutely certain that I'm comparing the right sources pane with the right person, or copying-and-pasting from and to the right place. Trying to work in a single browser tab per person is hindered by needing to scroll up to the top of the page to get the navigation bar, thereby losing my place on both panes (origin and destination).
This would all work much, much better if the sources were with the conclusions they support, that is, back on the same page/pane. It's where they belong. If you must segregate a text section to compensate, do it with Life Sketch.1 -
Tom Huber said: Actually, a lot of this could be resolved if we could tag all conclusions to the sources that support the conclusion.
We often speak of tagging a source to a conclusion, but actually, the only way this can work the best is by starting with the conclusion and then tagging the source to it from a list of the sources.
But first, Other Information, and the Couple relationship areas need to be able to have conclusions tagged to all events and facts.
That is the one thing that the new user interface did not do for us. And, it belongs in its own discussion thread with a title that applies.
That way, when working on an event or fact, the applicable sources would appear in the edit screen as they do for events and facts in the Vitals section.0 -
There should be an option. Click one button if you want to go back to the old version. Click another to stay with the new version. Everyones happy.

This thread is about the very, very old by now format of a person's page in which everything was on one page instead of the current Details, Timeline, Sources, Collaborate split. When it was first released and was only half finished it had some issues. It works very well now.

Please change it back, everything is completely alien!……you haven’t improved it, I would say it’s the complete opposite!…if it doesn’t go back to the old format I will only be on here if I’m really really desperate!

Its definitely a nightmare to navigate. I think I am done with family search until they change it back.

The only thing that needed to be changed or enhanced was the speed by which we got our search results. Now, I am having problems even negotiating your new format. Are you going to have classes on how to use this new format? I'm way too busy for this. Perhaps there's a way you can offer those of us who have been using Family Search since it first came online to use the old format and therefore you could then easily set them up side-by-side. Your programmers should be able to do that with a couple of little buttons to click like: Choose your favorite format,: "Old" or "New". Problem solved...
